Cask - Sweet flolar hops and caramel. Cloudy copper with a small white head. Floral hops, perfume and rum barrel notes. Dry and bitter finish. Harsh, but actually quite nice without carbonation in a cask.

A reddish coppery ake with a thin big bubbled off white head. In aroma, loads of sweet orange pulp, floral hops, very perfumy. In mouth, good biscuit malt with floral hops and intense boozy alcohol warmth, lingering piney notes, nice. A bit unbalanced. Cask at Arrow & Loon.

On cask at the Loon. Hazy amber with a frothy beige head, on the bubbly-side. Mild grassy nose with roasted malts. Very smooth with just a little bite in the finish. You can smell some of the rum, but not really taste it. Quite palatable.

(Cask at Bryden’s, Toronto, March 2014) Pours a hazy copper orange with an inch of frothy whitish cask head. Aroma has some pine/citrus hops, sweet caramel malt, lots of rum/molasses notes, quite oaky, vanilla, barrel heavy. Flavour has sweet caramel IPA body with a bit of sticky pine resin/citrus pith hops along with lots of barrel character: rum, spice, molasses, loads of wood and vanilla. Quite sweet until near the finish, but dries out pretty dramatically with a bitterness from hops, oak and a quite strong rum note and what seems a bit like barrel toast. Smooth, medium bodied cask. If you’re going to age an IPA in a rum barrel, you might as well extract lots of barrel character and this does. A little like a rum cocktail with a bitter citrus mixer. Interesting.
