Bottle - Bread and dark grains. Clear copper with a beige head. Toffee and grains. Nice sweetness and caramel flavours, with some slight chocolate notes. There is an odd smell that translates to the flavour. The best of their offerings.

More than the appearance, this one actually tastes a little coppery. Some crisp malt, some caramel. Comes together ok. Pours with good head and lacing, finish is a little bitter. Average carbonation. Bottle from brewery.

Originally rated April 2005. This Ontario altbier pours a brown-amber colour with some decent lacing. Smells the roasted malts and a nice bouquet of purfum. Very light carbonation. The taste is malty with caramel and is also nutty. Slight bitterness in the middle. Creamy moutheel and smooth aftertaste. Good product from Magnotta Brewery, just like their IPA.

A copper alt with a thin off white head. Sweetish sugar malt aroma, almost like light acidic seven up points. In mouth, a nutty grassy malt with light torrefied notes, herbal, light hopping, not bad. Hadn’t had this in a long time.

Re-rate is long overdue, please disregard these comments as they are not indicative of the recent history of this beer.
It has its moments, but they are few and far between. The aroma has at times been absolutely wonderful. Other times, it’s AWOL. The flavour has ranged from astringent burnt to smokey-crystal malty.
