The label indicates this is the 2019 version of Bourbon BA Rye Wine Ale and has a 12.4% ABV. An acquisition made several weeks ago at The Cellar, a corked and caged 375 ml bottle. Using my Cowtown tulip glass, I make the pour. A murky, muddy brown liquid with no head at all although I do see some effervescence. It has that sweetish, grainish smell I associate with the style. And a taste, yes, this is pretty decent. Figs, caramel, wheat bread, earth, some bourbon booziness and malt. Time to settle in and enjoy the bottle on a horribly cold evening.

Bottle (2018 vintage) from share with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Appearance is virtually opaque very dark brown (like a cola) with tons of sparkle at the edges of the glass, ring of beige head and mild lacing. Aroma is mellow bourbon and rye, caramel. Taste is dominant bourbon (stronger than aroma), caramel, late rye. Maybe a hint of a tart fruit quality at the very end. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, somewhat thin texture, silky soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, though bourbon is dominant it doesn’t run roughshod over the base beer but the flavors aren’t huge. Really nice mouthfeel.

750 ml bottle. 2018 vintage. About the age I love my barley wine’s. A deep amber / brown color. aroma shows me substantial bourbon with molasses, tobacco and pitted fruit. Flavor has the sticky pitted fruit, caramel, and sweet toffee throughout with a nice mellow lasting bourbon finish.

2015 bourbon area aged barley wine ale. 750ML, split 4 ways. dark raisin color beer. Taste, already a lot of oxidation. brown sugar, booze, raisin, bourbon, tons of ashy vinuous oak. really intense. I could still kill a bottle.

Bottle thanks to Casey. Pours a cloudy brown with medium off white head that lasts. The aroma is bourbon, toasted malts, wood. Medium mouth, vanilla, wood, coconut, boozy finish, good.

Deep brown coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, pine, rye, oak, bourbon and a nice rich malt. Full-bodied; Super strong flavour of alcohol, rye, bourbon and grain with a big finish and a lot of complexity throughout. Aftertaste is pungent and strong with a lot of grain and alcohol, with a good deal of vanilla, oak and of course bourbon as well - very nice and strong, great to sample here in Oklahoma! This is bottle #1590 of 1960. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased on 13-September-2014 at Spitzer’s Liquor in Norman, Oklahoma for US$13,00 sampled later in the day during a tailgate before an OU Football game versus Tennessee!

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a crystal clear deep copper body that supports a really nice looking tan head of foam. The aroma comes across malty , a little bit of molasses and then brighter notes of fruitiness such as prunes that’s mixed with pine hops. Wow, the taste is awfully smooth with malty sweetness, molasses and then it runs right into smooth yet firm pine hoppy goodness. Toward the finish nectar sweet dark fruity esters murmur to the surface as well as what seems like a smooth soft bourbon barrel sensation. This is a smooth and sweet delicious beer.

Draft - Toffee, molasses, coconut and some light spice. Jet brown with a thin white head. Caramel, barell notes, slight vinous and sour notes. Starts off very thick and lightens on the palate. Not bad, but I think this will round out better with a bit of age.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear hazy amber brown with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has tons of sweet grains and caramel with sweet bourbon, booze and a touch of rye backing. Flavor has a much more present rye with some toffee, caramel and bourbon underlying.
