“No one enjoys their job more than I do -- producing and developing new brews to delight lovers of fine beer, add to that the opportunity to collaborate on a beer based on the cultural phenomenon of Game of Thrones and exploring ways to make the beer truly reflect aspects from the show. It made us approach development in a completely new way and I think the first edition Iron Throne reveals that. With a Lannister currently on the throne, it made sense to do a delicate, but piercing Golden Blonde Ale with Noble hops. Iron Throne is certainly fair in color and soft in appearance, yet it still possesses a complexity and bite to be on guard for.” -Phil Leinhart, Brewmaster at Brewery Ommegang
Iron Throne has a slightly hazy golden amber hue. The head is full and fluffy. The finish is crisp, backed by a touch of spice and hops. The aroma is a bit grassy with a hint of lemon fruitiness from the lemon peel. The taste is lightly malty, rounded by honey malt sweetness.
Malt: Pils, Honey Malt, Aroma malt, Red wheat.
Hops: Styrain Golding, Hallertau Spalter Select.
Spices: Lemon peel, Grains of Paradise.
Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

On tap at McNellies. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has light wheat and flora with a backing grassy note. Flavor has a good amount of clove with sweet wheat and a bit of grass and banana.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with full head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of yeast, apricots, dried bananas and white pepper. Tastes are similar, just like a Belgian Triple, though ABV is not as high. Heavy carbonation, pretty much strips the tongue.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Top Hops, 6/21/13, I'm a few weeks late on the DVR catch-up, but drinking this as I finish off Season 3!
Aroma: The aroma has lots of citrus and spice, some pepper, clove, and a little bit of hop
Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden color with a large froth of white head that leaves fairly thick lace
Flavor: The taste is mildly sweet, with lots of spice, and a decent amount of bitterness as well
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a fairly fizzy carbonation, and a lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: This is actually a really nice beer. The spice and the carbonation are the two dominant components in my mind, but the other components compliment the spice nicely. The heavy carbonation does hurt the drinkability a bit, but the overall, it is a tasty beer. Good stuff.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy blond with a medium white head. Aroma is very subtle, full of Belgian yeast and dry crackery malt. Flavour is very bland, with not much of anything - a little Belgian yeast, and a little crackery malts. Very easy drinking, but without much character. Decent stuff, but nothing special.

Pours a golden orange color. Nice and bright. A bit cloudy. Big white head. Lots of lacing and great retention. Good looking beer. Big fresh pale malt aroma. Bright, sweet grain. Candy lemons and apricots in the aroma. Some nice earthy flavors from the yeast. A little bit of mint and other herbal flavors. Some fruity peppercorn spice. Hops seem floral and a touch grassy. The taste starts with a sweet, bready grain note. Then, the beer dries out some, and herbal and earthy flavors start to come out. There’s lemon skin, peppercorns and a light woodiness. The finish is fairly dry with a grassy hop flavor, mildly bitter. Mouthfeel is effervescent. Prickly little bubbles. Light body. Pretty good beer, but it doesn’t really stand out for me and seems a touch forgettable.

Bottle - Citrus lemon, cilantro and belgian yeast. Clear bubbly gold with a frothy head. Nice and light, some hay and again the yeast. A very basic beer that is refreshing and clean but by no means as exciting as the show.

Thought I wasn’t going to get to try this after it initially sold out quick but now come episode 6 it’s just sitting there at whole foods. Pours gold with huge fluffy bleach white head. Nose of spices and tropical fruit. Tastes of apricots, white pepper, coriander, yeast, biscuits, ginger, and touch sourness. Refreshing brew look forward to rest of series both the beers and tv
