On tap in Chemainus, as one does. Has okay sort of clear brown body and little foam. Smells softly of caramelized malt. Flavour is very sweet malt, honey it seems, some biscuit. Chewy and charming though still somehow suburban and not complex.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy red-brown with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of toasted malt, caramel, bread, nuts and raisins. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, molasses, dark fruit and nuts with a bitter, metallic finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.

Weak body, unexciting dunkle (bock?). Some chocolate notes, but very forgetable.

Dark mahogany colour, not much head but it looks good anyway with that colour. Molasses aroma, taste is a bit molasses and caramelly dark malts. Simple character, not a ton of complexity, decent malt character and basic body.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear medium brown with dissipating tan head. Aroma is light toasted malt and nuts. Flavour same, quick finish, light body. Quite weak overall.

Draft - Chocalate malts with hints of coffee, nuts and vanilla. Jet black with a brown head. Tastes just like it smells which if I didn’t know better would think this is a porter. So much dark roasted flavors make this a great beer, but I don’t get the Dunkel.

Ok. Pours dark brown with tinge of red. A little lacing. Not much going on here. Finiishes with little taste one way or another, only slight sweetness and some barrel. On tap at brewpub.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of perfume, toasted nuts and toasted malts. Flavour of toasted malts, some toasted nuts, a touch of dark dried fruits, and English hops. Very well balanced with a medium body. Good stuff.

Bottle, thanks for bringing it over Daniel! Dark chestnut, offwhite cream. Bready, light vineous fruity and roasted notes. Fairly roasted entry, slightly burned caramel, some coffee. Roast, honey, light bready notes, fresh herbal and grassy hops. Needs a little bit more chewyness - it falls a little bit flat towards the end. Mellow creamy mouthfeel. Dark roast aftertaste.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany with light head. Aromas of vegetables, chocolate biscuits and roasted malt. Flavors of brownies (chocolate and walnuts), light tobacco, and malt
