Hazy, dullish blonde. Thin head. Orange and grapefruit nose. On the palate it picks up a more weedy hop note along with that orange. There’s a fair bit of pale malt backing this up. Another very good IPA from Beachwood.

On tap at Loyal Legion, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of piney hops, a bunch of citrus and crisp crackery malt. Flavour is a bit vegetal-laced, with piney hops, punchy citrus and crackery malt. Assertive yet balanced. Nice stuff.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish head, a touch hazy orange color, dominat aroma of onions with some grapefruit behind it, flavor of onions and shrubs with some melon, medium herbal grapefruit bitterness, bitter grapefruit aftertaste. Nice and quite drinkable.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Ariel for this bottle! Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of oniony hops, overripe fruity and piney, and some malt, with a light buttery hint. Flavor has sweetish malt with a caramel note, fruity, tropical and citric, and piney hops, and nice bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Really great, fresh hop aroma with enough malt backbone to mark it as a special brew. Flavor’s a bit similar, although the bitterness dominates all else. Good drinking brew.

Bottle split at Black IPA Friday, picked up at Public Beer and Wine Longbeach, 09/05/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering that retains well. Nose is bitter pine, bitter grapefruit, orange pith, juicy hops, light spice. Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, straw, pine resin, mangos,:tangy mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in a lightly drying close. Solid well balanced west coast IPA - super drinkable.

Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Yellow gold beer, light haze. Small bubbly white head. Palate is light and airy with very fine carbonation. Airy pale malt, mildly sweet. Resinous hops, little skunk. Good hop spice. Touches of lemon balm and pine and a little citric peel. Light dry finish. Bitterish linger. Caused 2 days of bickering between Colin and Paul. What you could call a room divider!

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Coleen for this freshie. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a frothy white head. Great nose, lots of grapefruit, some tangerine, lemon rind. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong bitter grass, pine needles, lots of rind, pith. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Quite bitter on the finish, more grass, rindy citrus, light warming alcohol. The bitterness in the aftertaste is a touch abrasive. Beautiful aroma but the flavor doesn’t follow on well enough. Decent.
