Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of black chocolate with light roasted malt is quite nice. Taste is a great mix between some lightly dry roasted malt with loads of black chocolate notes which are not overly bitter with some light lactose also discernable at the end. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Great beer with good amount of black chocolate and no too much astringency.

(Draught at Tequila Bookworm, Toronto) Poured an inky black with basically no head, just a few bubbles. Aroma of strong coffee, a little chocolate, stewed raisins and dark fruits and a bit of toffee. Flavour again coffee, figs and rasins, dark chocolate, malty with quite light roast. Just a little vegetal anise/fennel/licorice on the finish. Sweet but not not cloying with a touch of bitterness and no real hops bitterness to speak of. Mouthfeel is medium, carbonation very very light. The beer is smooth, rounded, relatively rich and flavourful - very nice as cooler fall weather starts to hit.

A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma a bitter chocolate with light boiled veggies notes. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with molasses, ashes, charcoal and coffee grinds, alcohol warmth, licorice notes, oily mouthfeel. On tap at Sessions 99, June 23 2012.

great robust aroma of deep roasted malt. The taste follows through with caramel, coffee bitter and a note of raisin even. The after taste that fills up the first breath is potent. A little tracing and black to dark brown poor with durable ceam head. This place continues to surprise me with its quality brews. Easily the consistent top in Ontario with the few beers they ve made so far. On tap at brewpub.

Reddish dark brown. Thick head. Aroma is chocolatey and a little nutty. Rich and chocolatey, with malty intensity reminscent of a baltic but without the subtle fruits or alcoholic intensity. Dryish finish, but w some residual dark sugars. Probably better to think of it as a strong porter rather than baltic.
