Refermented with an enzyme called "Amylo Glucosidase" to break down all complex sugars in the beer until it has a finishing gravity of zero, the result is a fresh and dry champagne-like body with fruity and winey characteristics from Nelson Sauvin and Engima hops but next to no bitterness. Vinous, refreshing and perfect for the summer heat.

Lichtgeel troebel bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter en vrij zacht voor een IPA, met iets van citrus en een vleugje druiven. Niet slecht maar ook niet echt bijzonder.

Pale blond colour with fluffy head. Aroma and flavour are relatively mild in intensity. Elements of apple and grape. Very clean finish. Dry but not bitter.

Another of these brand new brut IPAs, including the enzyme treatment to render it as dry as possible, this time by Mondo in England; bottle from De Caigny north of Antwerp. Thick, frothy and pillowy, snow white, membrane-lacing, stable head over an initially almost clear, warm and pure 'old gold' coloured beer with very lively, indeed almost 'champenoise' sparkling; turns into a misty, deeper apricot blonde with sediment. Aroma less strong than expected but not unpleasant at all: pink grapefruit flesh, moist white pepper, cava, quite some unexpected iron (iron shavings), dried apple peel, white bread slices, sweet onion, dried mango, straw. Clean and dryish onset, superficial notes of unripe banana and apple peel but generally rather 'neutral' in terms of fruitiness, spritzy carbonation with minerally side effects, smooth and dryish body, cereally and white-bready with a light metallic edge. Subtle cava-like aspects towards the finish (clear champagne yeast effect), powdery, bit spicy and leafy hop bitterness releasing some dried citrus peel notes retronasally without turning into exuberant tropical fruitiness. Streamlined, smooth, dryish, highly drinkable IPA, very clean as seems to be the intention with these brut IPAs, but the metallic aspect bothered me a bit and I would not have minded a tad more expressive hop aromatics. Enjoyable, but it failed to convince me that this new hype will really conquer the world like e.g. NEIPA did. Then again, this is only my third brut IPA so far so who knows what other brewers will come up with if they come to embrace this idea.

Bottle @ tasting shared with TomHendriksen and Inoven. Clear pale golden color, medium to full sized white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, some resemblance to white wine, a bit yeasty and some fruit peel notes. Mwah. Ok.

Flesje gedeeld door Benzai en gedronken met Tomhendriksen. Weinig aroma. Smaak is ietsje hoppig. Hoppige smaak blijft even hangen .

330 ml. bottle @ Bar Pardaf. A brut IPA from a subpar UK craft brewery from whom I had previously 4 beers apparently which I don’t recall having at all. Pours golden with a huge white head. Nose is nice classical USA tropical fruitiness but in a very dry fashion with no fruit sweetness but no dried fruit. Taste is touch empty or rather subtle with the same tropical fruit character and the grain, the massive dryness of it all is true to style and the most appealing and notable aspect of this beer. Overall it really grew on me and it proved to be superbly drinkable. I am still coming to terms with the whole Brut IPA thing but this one proved to be a very solid example and far better than the previous beers which I have had from this brewery.

Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and reasonably crisp. Smooth if fairly dry malts, a little sweetness. A dry and slightly bitter grapey mid. Mellow tangy citrus. Light dry finish. Yeah some decent Brut character here but it's a bit light on the hops.
