Bottle: Hazy amber with a small, off-white head. Caramel and nutmeg scent. Taste is caramel malt, nutmeg, cinnamon, grain malt. Basic holiday spicing......but nicely restrained... Not bad....I’d have another.

Bottle. Nutmeg, cinnamon, and biscuit malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet nutmeg, cinnamon, biscuit malt and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Decent body. Good spice flavor without overwhelming the flavor.

The beer is amber colour and hazy in the glass. The nose is honey-spicy with hints of nutmeg. The beer starts highly carbonated and slightly sour. Has it turned? Winter is just over… but after three month? Sadly no best-before date on the bottle - so I have to guess that it has to taste like this! (that’s one reason why I hate US-laws concerning beer - but it is the brewery’s fault this time!)- The mainpart stays slightly sour, nice spicy aroma there, maltiness, but I dislike the sourish taste! The aftertaste is smooth malty, spicy with sour fruity elements!
A brew which is too sour for what it wants to be! And - as there is no best-by date - I once again have to assume that the brewers want it to taste like this! --> 4/10/3/4

Super fluffy, rocky head, on hazy orange/gold body. Mild sweet, spicy aroma, gingerbread, fruitcake, etc. Taste is more of the same with a lean towards the sweet side. Slippery mouthfeel. Getting too close to spring to enjoy this style.

Bottle. Christmas spices and nuts in the aroma. Cloudy orange amber, low golden head. Mellow mouthfeel, medium body. Slightly sticky, spices are a bit cloying at first, light fruit, a bit mealy. Not my cup of tea.

Slightly hazy amber coloured body with a light copper/orangish glow and a thin off-white head. Aroma of spices, nutmeg, malt, nuts, coriander seed, meat and mushrooms and a touch of caramel. Medium-bodied; Assertive spicey flavour with some peat and metal in front of a malty and caramel finish - not much else. Aftertaste shows some spices, nuts and a rather lightish alcohol bite. Overall, a decent beer - the spices kind of work with a lighter beer, but not all the way - need more of a complex profile to pull this off. Decent, but definitely not my favourite winter beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 15-April-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 2-May-2010.

12oz bottle. Hazy orange-amber color, nice frothy head. Big cinnamon-clove aroma. Pretty interesting in that it blends the think spiciness with a lighter, sessionable malt body. Not at all unlike a pumpkin beer, this is unapologetic in it’s overboard spicing. I can appreciate a unique winter beer, and this is certainly unique. Captures an almost creamy Belgian Golden Ale combined with the spicy characteristics of an American Pumpkin Ale. OK.

Pours a hazy straw color, with a soapy film of a head - aroma of honey, nutmeg, moderate hops, some wildflower-like character - I was a little confused by the commercial description, but this really does taste like they spiced up a pale ale, and somehow it kind of works - things open with ginger, nutmeg, and other warming wintery spices, as well as sweet honey - their potency fades fast, though, and a moderate hop profile and some bready flavors show up behind them - a little bit of honey and warmth returns in the finish - I’m not quite sure why it works, but this is a pretty good beer.
