Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, lactose, alcohol, pit fruits, prunes and a touch of smoked peat. Medium-bodied; Strong rich malt at first with a lot of raisins, figs and earth, coupled with a good sweetness and touch of smoke at the tail end. Aftertaste is a bit thin, but the malt, earth, alcohol, pit fruits and especially the raisins really come through at the end. Overall, a nice and relatively spot-on (for the style) porter with some good components. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Knightly Spirits (Orange Blossom Trail) in Orlando, Florida on 01-October-2015 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on on 09-January-2016.

So, when I saw this, I thot raspberry porter, well forget that. Let me see now, can you say impy stout? Would like to bring this to the RB Pgh chapter and see if they can distinguish between this and any other impy stout during the blind impy stout face-off, heheh. Think impy stout, you know, like expedition or yeti er sumthin? Go frikken figger. Come on RB, at the very least you gottah say its Baltic, no?

Bottle pour into pint glass from Cigarette City, Seabrook NH. Aroma is roasted malts, bread, bit of cocoa. Appearance is opaque black with sparkle along the sides of the glass, finger-width brown creamy head with nice lacing. Taste is as aroma--sweet roasted malts (but more sedate than I was expecting) with a bit of cocoa but also some caramel and a little coffee bitterness. Palate is medium bodied with average texture, above average carbonation and mildly bitter finish. Overall, this is good but though there is a lot going on there isn’t a dominant full flavor--a lot of little flavors going on without really defining it. Also, a little bit thin textured and a bit too much carbonation.

Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Rich malt and light toffee aroma. Toffee and malt flavor with light dark fruits and light coffee. Medium bodied. Fruitiness and toffee lingers with malt, light coffee, and light roast.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Mocha head with little retention recedes to pool on surface. Chocolate aromas. Dry and thin with dark caramel and chocolate syrup front to back.

12oz bottle pours with a nice dark mahogany colored body that supports a dense cobwebby dark tan head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up sweetened malts, soft dark roasted malts, some mild earthy chocolate and then a bit of malt balls at the end of the draw. The taste is smooth and pretty darn rich. I get similar notes as noted in the nose such as a sweet malt base pulling together and softening some dark roasted malts and chocolate malts. It gets a little more chocolate like to midway before a thin brief edge of burnt malts is noticed. This is a dandy sippin’ Porter.

Bottle from a mix pack from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours really dark brown with a tan head. Aroma reminds of chocolate caramel. Med + body. Flavor is very chocolate, there’s toffee, could be some coffee, and there’s some bitter that might be hop. Kind of earthy. Carbonation was pretty strong, but otherwise this is a good porter. Scratch the carbonation dig! I can really drink this stuff.

Mixed sixer purchased at CBC, Portsmouth location. Dark brown / borderline black with full lasting head retention, thick lacing. Aroma is mild chocolate, charred grain, barley, toffee.
Flavor for me is a reflection of the aromas. It really does have a earthy English/ European malt / grain bill. Body is slightly thin for a robust Porter. Because of that thinness, I detect hints of alcohol. Texture is on the dry side with a nice creamy Co2 level. This is respectable but I like it more when it was chilled, as it warmed it got ashy and alcohol prance increased.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 10/2015. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, light vanilla, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, light vanilla, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice robust porter style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle. A pretty rich, deep Porter, significantly better than most SA beer. Glass lacing rusty beige head on top of a thick brown-black body. Has some faint Milk Stout attributes. sweetish, but overall really nice balanced. Full bodied but never overwhelming on the palate. Quite an excellent offering, this guy should have his own brewery.
