A sheep painted red ... Cruel joke, right? Nope. Farmers in Ireland and Scotland have been painting sheep for ages—makes ’em easier to find. Thankfully, you won’t have any problem finding our new Irish Red Lager. Its malty backbone and rich, off-white head—some say it’s "cappuccino-like"—are unmistakable. Not to mention that big, beautiful color. Which, unlike the sheep, is 100% natural.
(All due respect to the sheep.)

Bottle. Buttery toffee malt and hay aroma. Amber with small head. Sweet buttery toffee malt and lightly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Decent.

bottle - Pours clear amber and smells of caramel malt. It tastes the same and is sweet and one dimensional. This easy drinking beer is very average.

Pours clear deep amber into a Sam glass. Significant off-white head slowly recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet caramel aromas that turn slightly sour after a while. Sweet caramel, caramel corn upfront with a mild sweet hop finish. What the...this is actually drinkable..

Clear ruby tinted body with a nice one centimetre tall tan head. Nice looking, actually. Aroma of fresh soap, grass, hay, malt and a bit of white chocolate - super odd. Light-bodied; Sharp malt notes with the pungent white chocolate flavour right behind and a little spice and earth. Aftertaste is mostly mild with a lot of malt coming through and a very subdued bit of alcohol and chocolate. Overall, not such a great beer - but this was expected, a very mild and drinkable Red, but nothing with flavour at all - this isn’t the pride of Rochester. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 27-March-2011 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 02-April-2011.

Rather mild red, but not red enjoyable beer. Creamy first taste impressions. Appears a little viscous in the glass. Goes over nicely without any of that ale rudeness that so many love. Malty and smooth without being offensive. Has a tad of a slag aroma at times and this carries over to the background of the beer. A little bitterness builds on the sides of trhe tongue during the session. Overall a little better than expected.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-orange-brown color with a small foamy beige head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was sweet toasty caramel. The flavor was sweet and tangy with notes of biscuit and coffee with an undertone of nut and bread and some faint fruity hops. The finish was medium length toasty toffee. Medium body. Nice.

A reddish amber ale with a thin big bubbled white head. In aroma, a light sweet butterscotch, bland. In mouth, a nutty butterscotch, cloying, light and boring. On tap at ROC Empire Brewfest, Feb. 19 2011.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Fredericksburg, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a thin offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts and some earthy notes. The taste is caramel, earthy, a bitter hoppiness and a weird tartness. Odd. Medium bodied.
