This crisp pale ale is named after U.S. Crystal hops, which give the beer its distinctive American hop character. The classic aroma and citrusy, floral flavor that the Crystalhops provide are balanced by a subtle earthy note from U.K. hops. Cheers

Bottle. Clear, dark gold. Large fluffy white head. Aroma was citrus and hay. Taste was like straw with a bitter finish. Not all that great.

bottle - Pours a clear, copper color. The aroma is of citrus hops and some mild caramel malt. The flavor is balanced with the hops bitterness complemented by somewhat bready malty sweetness. It's a pretty average beer.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours amber gold with a white head. Citrus/floral aroma. Near med body. Flavor is floral/citrus earth. Sort of like when there’s Cluster. The malt is lightly toasted. There’s a sort of toffee thing trying to break out - but this is towards dry and almost adequately bitter. Drinkable. Not a standout. Might drink it in a bar, depending on the availabilities.

Rich copper coloured body with a hazy golden tint and a very thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of grassy and very perfumey hops with a small malt note and a touch of sugars - very nice. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and perfume-based hops with a light malt flavour, some caster sugar and some sweetness from fruit and a bit more herbal and very perfumey finishes with the fruit the strongest on the end. Aftertaste shows a very nice and relatively straightfoward balance of perfumey hops and mellowish malts with a nice sugar and refined cleansing finish. Overall, a nicely executed APA with a good profile, solid complexity and easy to drink body. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Annandale, Virginia on 08-January-2016 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington on 07-July-2016.

Pour is a clear gold with a large white head. Aroma is a decent but faint whiff of hops. Flavor is about the same. A small dose of a pine hop flavor with slightly heavy malt. Not as sweet as I though it was going to be. This is a typical everyday pale ale. A little more hop presence would have put this at least about the ok category.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 7/2016. Pours crystal clear golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, peach, lemon zest, light pepper/pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and light-moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, peach, lemon zest, light pepper/pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, peach, lemon zest, light pepper/pine, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, lightly creamy/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good pale ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. This was a bit tame on the hoppiness; but it had good complexity and was still very enjoyable.

12 oz. bottled 12/21/15 from a 12 pack poured into a tulip. A: Pours a clear orange tinted pale gold With an inch of frothy head that after 2 minutes is down to a film over the top. S: Citrus and warm spice on the nose. Low pine note. Very nice. T: Earthy hop notes and light pine. Not nearly as much citrus as in the nose but it’s there. Slight malt sweetness provides good balance and is not the least bit cloying. Mild alcohol at the end. Good! M: Fine beaded carbonation washes the tongue nicely. Light resin in the medium chewy finish. O: Pleasantly surprised by this after being largely let down by the recent Cabin Pack. This is IMO worthy of its own 12 pack. I’d buy again.

Bottle in pint glass. Aroma is bready malt and yeasty dough with whiff of resinous hops. Appearance is golden brown with negligible head with poor retention and minimal lacing. Taste is mix of bitter hops with sweet malt and a dry corn chip finish. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture and too-lively carbonation. Overall, more here than I thought there would be.
