12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 11/13/2014. Pours slightly hazy light reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, light nuttiness, light citrus/pine, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, pine, herbal, grass, light citrus, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Good amount of herbal/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, pine, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice hoppy brown ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and fairly crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. A golden amber pour with a ring of white head; earthy malt aroma with a touch of spice; and a soft caramel taste; with a toasted malt finish. Very drinkable.

Pours a dark maple from a bottle. Aroma is a slight caramel, but nothing overpowering. Flavor is a little burnt toffee, perhaps some coffee, with a slight bitterness throughout the palate, however overall this is not a strong tasting beer. Good.

12oz bottle. Filtered amber-brown body. Creamy off-white head. Nutty malt notes. Some respectable hop balance. Can’t really escape the buttery old school Magic Hat house yeast tones. A little bit thin bodied for all the sweetness. An OK Brown, on the sugary specialty malt side. OK.

Purchased at a local Jewel as part of a 12 pack sampler, enjoyed at home on a cold Friday night. Appearance is a brown reddish hue with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, syrup, light hops. Taste is mostly malt, not really getting a hoppy vibe from this one. It’s just ok.

bottle - Pours brown with a light tan head. It has a toasted caramel malt aroma. It tastes of moderately sweet caramel malt and mildly bitter, earthy hops. It’s medium bodied and finishes with light bitterness. Fairly good.

Pours deep, clear mahogany into a snifter. White head with little retention recedes to sicken surface. Sweet butterscotch and toffee aromas. Thick with caramel and toffee upfront turning to roasted nuts before the lasting bitter earth finish.
