Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin tan head that fades relatively fast. Aroma of bread, yeast, light spices, grain and a lot of caramel - very strong. Medium to Full-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong malt flavours with a big yeast and breadie flavour with some sugars and a touch of peat and some dry grass as well. Aftertaste is a touch creamy with some lactose, along with a herbal element, but a lot of roasted malt as well. Overall, a nice dark belgie with some interesting/new world/american characteristics with a solid complexity from yeast. Worth trying if you can find it, but not really worth searching high and low for! I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$2,69 sampled at home in Washington on 29-January-2016.

Poured from a can dated April 9th, 2015. Aroma is fairly malty with a nice roast character as well as some toasted bread. Nice fruit notes with some plum, cherry and raisin. Some light phenolic notes with a bit of pepper and a touch of alcohol spice. Pours a dark brown, almost black with a medium sized, fairly thin, dark tan head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. Small lacing and medium small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with some light roast and toasted bread with a bit of chocolate as well. Some caramel and toffee as well. Moderate dark fruit notes with raisin, plum, prune and cherries. Some light phenolic spice notes with a bit of alcohol spice. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer with great malt notes and fruit esters. Some light phenolic and bitter notes.

22oz can thanks to Willrunforbeer. Deep brown color with thin lasting head. Aroma is a rye type grain, coffee grounds, rye malt and old rye.

Flavor is about the same as the aroma sadly. Thin watery, mineral note with a off putting sour rye character. The yeast is not enjoyable at all. Just plain sour rye and a odd Belgian spice note. Will not drink this again.

Refrigerated16oz. aluminum cans poured into a tulip. Black with medium light brown head. Aroma is dark fruit, medium body, well carbonated, and medium-bubble lacing. Taste is dark malt, roasty, some coffee, a little chocolate, and hints of dark fruit. Quite a bit of stout characteristics in the taste.

Can. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has lots of roasted malts with sweet dark grains, toffee and sweet dark fruits. Flavor has an odd combination of sweet fruits and dark grains and a hint of roasted malts.
