Full-flavored, hop-forward. Brewed with a touch of imported dark malt for a deep color and roasted flavor. It’s an IPA. With a dark side.

Sample at the "Black Friday 03" tasting on 11/24/2017. Clear brown color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Aroma of roast malt, hops and fruit. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, citrusy hops and a bit of chocolate. The finish is malty up front with a mildly hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 7/31/14
Aroma: The nose is fairly roasty and toasty, with some light earthy hop notes
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a slight orange hue and thick froth of beige head/lace
Flavor: Hops come out more in the flavor, balanced between the roast/toast and earthy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-to-full, fairly smooth, almost creamy, with a dry finish
Overall Impression: Looks like I'm the 50th rater of this one, so that's a thing I guess. This was better than I expected it to be. Not too bad at all.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to the CDA finder general, 27/03/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate tan covering. Nose is light roast, pine, dark malts, spice. Taste comprises a touch of roast, grapefruit, light dankish hop presence, spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so CDA.

Tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Leighton. Almost clear brown beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is crisp and dry. Sweet lactose in the dark malts, no roast or bitterness. Mild tangy dark fruits and a light dry finish. Too much lactose in the way here.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in NC. Pours clear, light brown with a frothy, off-white head. The nose has toasty caramel, bread, suggestions of cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with light earthy bitterness, more toasted caramel, brown bread leaves, hints of cocoa and dirt. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Very basic finish, some burnt wood, earth, baking cocoa, toasted leaves. OK.

Bottle: Pours ruby-black with a tight, light tan head. Dark, mild pine and weak licorice aroma. Taste is cola, resin...a hint of rye? A bit of coffee, but not enough to body it up to what I like in my BIPA’s. Ok, but lacking.

Pretty excited to get these new rates out this holiday party so thanks to my hosts. Ours black with nice piney nose. Tastes of pine, dank hops. Coffee grind, and charred wood. Touch thin and bitter palate.

Nice black looken pour. Initial impressions are initially OK and its mildly tart, this makes it almost acceptable. Nasty astringent BS at the end of every slug, it grows too. Yes, each sip has that craft beer barely sensitive. Each sip evolves from a mildly tart start to evolving into a astringent nasty finish, somewhat similar to an IPA but burnt in nature. Good kick in the jaw. Yes, this is a difficult brew. Fer sure.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with plum highlights and a medium sized foamy off white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was dry and malty with notes of anise, floral hops and perfumey hops. The flavor was bitter and a bit tangy with notes of anise, fruity hops, floral hops and perfume. Long dryish and hoppy finish. Medium body. Meh.
