Not quite as stunning as original NoB, complex but a bit too aggressive with the tart raspberry front, allowing the fruit to overshadow the bourbon barrel nuances. Insanely sour, loads of unripe raspberries underscoring the already massive citric tartness, leading to a face-puckering blast of not-quite-ready fruit that takes away from the whiskey sweetness. Notes of vanilla and oak and, weirdly enough, Tootsie Rolls all pop up on the back end, yet the all-encompassing sourness dominates. Not bad, just a tad overwhelming. Good pour, coming out a ruddy brown with a boisterous off-white head and moderate lacing. Bourbon and raspberries on the nose. Texture's perfect, sparkly but lacking any alcohol warmth. Good beer overall, just not as life-changing as straight Nightmare.

Initial smell is what makes this beer like the taste of freedom. Mouthful has overdose of sourness they like to do. I feel like these guys shpuld take a page out of the Jolly Pumpkin or Allagash sour books. Dark brown without much head. Mouth puckering finish. Tap at The Source.

(Tap sample @ CBC 2016 Blue Session, Copenhagen) Pours something like brown and red at the same time with an orange cast and rainbow trout-coloured head, interesting. Aroma is predictably raspberry heavy, with a bunch of smoky toasty malt backing it, Ovaltine, dry chocolate cake, minimal fruit acidity, barrel is likely amplifying the malty notes but not whiskey-heavy. Flavour is unusually sweet and full for CS thanks to malt notes that balance the fruity acidity. Notes of raspberry, sweetish dark cake with hints of chocolate, dark grains, a bit of red wine, wood, some dusty Brett, earth, lightly funky overall. Some lactic acidity appears in the back and truncates the finish with lemony freshness. No alcohol heat. Medium bodied. Really good sour, the focus is up front rather than lingering but the balance is well-executed.

Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a clear ruby with medium pinkish head that lasts. The aroma is strong raspberry, brett, and oak. Medium body, jammy, berry, funk, low acidity, nice tartness, hides alcohol well, enjoyed this.
Aromat slodkich malin, smak kwasnych malin, bdb ale wole wersje bez malin. Jest tez slodkosc. Ryli niezle

Pours almost a pitch black if it weren’t for the red , small pinkish head of foam. Minimal lacing.
Smells of tart raspberries, mild funk, wood, has some acetic aromas.
Smacked in my face with the tart raspberries, a bit of funk and wood, much sourness in an acetic kind of way. This is like I asked Crooked Stave to brew a beer with exactly the proper mix of ingredients that I wanted them to and they did it. Beer of 2017 for me? Perhaps.

Draft. An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of fruits, brett, wood, and raspberries. The flavor is sour with notes of fruits, cherries, wood, malt, and brett, leading to a tart finish.
