The first beer from a Brussels hobby brewer going professional, released a few weeks ago, an IPA named after the sparrowhawk. Bottle from Fermenthings. Snow white, very thick and frothy, tightly lacing, stable head over lightly hazy apricot blonde beer with ochre-ish tinge and vivid sparkling, turning misty and a bit more orangey with sediment added. Bright, attractive nose of orange juice, dried grapefruit zest, mandarin, bitter garden herbs, straw, ripe peach, sweetbread, wormwood, lightly toasted white bread. Fruity, sweetish onset, peach, ripe pear and pineapple, medium fizz, supple and lean body. Clean 'sweetbready' and bit biscuity malts with dim spicy-cereally spelt effect under lingering fruity notes and increasing, aromatic hop fragrance bringing notes of white pepper, mandarin and even a touch of guava. Softly spicy hop bitterness mingles with malt sweetness and fruitiness. Very clever postmodern Belgo-American style IPA, elegant, fragrant, accessible and very pleasant, fitting well in the 'Nouvelle Vague' surrounding and penetrating the Belgian capital after the pioneering work of de la Senne and BBP. Motivating to keep following La Source's further activities.

Sampled draft @ L’Ermitage. Low hazy orange, nice creamy white head. Nose is very sweet milky grainy, white sugar,… Way too milky grainy, orange peel, dull bland, overly milky yeast, disappointing.

29/IX/18 - on tap @ NieFest, DOK Brewing Company (Gent) - (2018-1514) Thanks to my wife for sharing tonight's beers!

Note: damn backlog, another first rating I've missed... :p
Clear blond to copper peach coloured beer, small creamy irregular off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: malty, grains, bit metallic, fruity notes, some melons, nice stuff. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: malty start, some oranges, alcohol, fruity, lots of both ripe and unripe melons, pretty metallic. Aftertaste: bit grassy, melons, fruity touch, grains, more oranges, bit of a soapy bitterness, oxidized and metallic.
