Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is liquorice, candy sugar, dark malt, some chocolate, more liquorice in the finish. Sweet flavour with a mild bitterness. Alcohol is hidden fairly well. A very Belgian 'Stout', sugary, too much liquorice for my palate.

Bottle 33 cl. Dark brown, almost black, nice creamy head. Aroma: sweet and esters, wood varnish, caramel, a little spicy, wine, dried fruits. Sweet taste: caramel, a little burnt, winey, dried fruits, dates, not bad.

Appearance: Opaque dark brown to black with a decent tan head. Aroma: Toast & roast, pronounced esters, chocolate, brandy. Taste: Light sweet, light to medium bitter. Toast & roast, lovely prunes, dark chocolate, brandy, floral notes. Mouth feel: Medium to full body, soft to average carbonation. Smooth. Summary: Nice.

Bottle, 12%. Yeasty and vinous aroma. Black colour. Fizzy dark brown head. The flavour is sweet and creamy, peppery and vinous. Fruity finish with sweet liquorice notes. The alcohol burns a little, but is not bitter as such. Oily mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. Tastes like decent homebrew.

Donkerbruin tot zwart bier met mooie stevige schuimkraag. Smaak is zoet en licht bitter met iets van rook, wat chocolade, koffie en drop. Verradelijk bier wat makkelijk wegdrinkt.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of smoke, peat, bitter chocolate, licorice, roasted malt and coffee. Taste has nice savory peat, smoke, roasted, bitter dark chocolate, licorice, burned caramel and coffee. Nice bitter roasted stout, works well with the peated malt.

Amateurs de finesse passez votre chemin ! Car avec ce Dark Master qui s'apparente plus au Dark Vador de l'Imperial Stout, vous serez forcément déçus. Côtés arômes, c'est pompeux avec un fumé peu gracieux prédominant allié à des arômes de caoutchouc, charbon, whisky, café et chocolat. L'ensemble est peu attrayant et plutôt grossier. Côté équilibre on regrettera un sucre un peu trop présent donnant de la lourdeur en bouche (mais une bonne corpulence). Le visuel est sur un noir total recouvert d'une fine mousse brune. Le nez est sur un fumé fort, allié à du charbon whisky et café. L'attaque est relativement fraîche, bien houblonnée sur le café, le whisky, le caramel, le chocolat et le poivre. Le fumé est alors présent sans dominer. C'est en seconde bouche sur une forte présence que cela se dégrade avec ce trio fumé, charbon et caoutchouc qui prédomine sans aucune subtilité. L’arrière-bouche est quant à elle agressive avec un alcool à 12 % quelque peu bourrin. Le final est à la fois discret et court. Grossier.
