Bomber from Trader Joe’s. Slightly hazy golden with a huge, soft off-white head. Aroma of banana, grasses, spice. Flavor is heavy on the banana, lighter on the spice, grass. Kinda different, but pretty good.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Trader Joe’s. Aroma is mix of sweet and tart fruits, particularly banana. Appearance is cloudy light brown-orange with minimal sparkle at sides of glass, thin white foamy head with poor retention and no lacing. Taste is as aroma with sweet fruit/banana dominating over tart. Palate is medium bodied with thin, foamy texture, soft carbonation and fruity/tart finish. Overall, true to the style. Solid, if not fantastic.

650ml bottle on my daughters patio in Laguna Niguel on 26th April 2016. A whole lot better beer than I expected when she told me how much it cost her. Anyway I poured it into an Erdinger Weissbier glass (twice), it looked fine, a murky, dull orange body with a large snowy white crown on each pour. Yeasty nose and flavours with mild orange led citrus notes, no world beater, but very good for the price.

Bottled 6/10/15, drunk 1/3/15.
Good enough pour, fairly hazy, though not fully cloudy (not rousing the sediment) with a moderate white head with medium-to-medium-low retention.
Smells like tangerine, banana, strong cream of wheat and bubble gum in the nose. A little bit sloppy/aggressively estered and some definite alcohol and light metallic notes, but overall not to bad all things considered ($1.99 bomber....).
Simple in the flavor, with some honey and bread-like sweetness, but not cloying or syrupy, with ample carbonation and lots of orange, bubble gum and light banana. Some sharp, acidic and fusel-like notes with a touch of dirtiness, but certainly passable.

I didn’t realize these Mission St. beers were made by Firestone Walker - had I known, I probably would have avoided the Boatswain beers from Trader Joes I’ve been trying over the last couple of months - this is a nice example of the style - soft texture - a refreshing tartness that offsets the sweeter notes of the malt - understated, but present notes of clove, white pepper, finishing with mild esters - very good brew, especially at the price point.

22oz bomber pours with a coppery to gold body that has a slight haze and supports really no head at all. The aroma offers up grainy wheat, some lemon and sweet banana. The taste starts with grainy malts, wheat notes and some sharp lemon like citrus. In the background is a faint sweet banana note. This is a pretty nice hefe.

Pours cloudy golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat and banana. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours a hazy, orange-golden body and a small, white head. The aroma has a sort of strange mix of banana and lemon, with a faint clove touch. Yeah, I know, hefes are supposed to have those aromas, but here it’s rather strange. The flavor doesn’t have the same problem, although a bit boring compared to the best Germans. Medium body, soft carbonation. Banana finish with some bitterness. Far from bad, but I won’t repeat it. 130808

Light Hazy Orange Color, Huge Head, Lots Of Lacing. Faint Banana, Clove Aroma. Taste about the same: Sweet, Banana, Clove, Lemon, Bubblegum, Yeast. Seems a little dull, lack carbonation that could be bubblier and live. Nonetheless, probably ,y favorite from Mission Street line up. OK.
