The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel.

Bottle. Hazy golden color. Explosive, massive head. Taste was a strong dry hop taste. Aroma is what one would expect from an ipa, citrus and source.

On tap at Flat12 Bierwerks, pours a clear copper blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted biscuity malt and light citrus. Flavour is along the same lines, with piney hops, bitter citrus rind and biscuity malt. Bitter finish. Solid IPA.

Canned October 3rd.

Pours a hazy straw gold with plenty of foam. Above average lacing.

Pine and grapefruit dominate the smell; degree of dankness pretty high.

Pine and grapefruit clearly in the taste. Dank tropical fruit permeates. Very very bitter. No malt that I can discern. Like in a triple IPA. Onions? Yep.

Good mouthfeel.

A bit over the top for me regarding the bitterness level but I am glad that I got to try it.

On tap. Pours a hazy copper with light head. Aromas of pine. Strong pine flavor overpower everything else. A bit of a funky toffee aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of queenholly. Over carbonated bottle, had to pour slow and very little at a time. After the massive head shrank, the color displayed a hazy gold. Nose is both fruity and floral. For me the nose was the best facet. The malt plays a second fiddle to the hops. Bitter, REAL bitter grapefruit, light pine resin and also a herbal bite. This really could use some more malt to help with the balance. It’s a little too abrasive on the palate. Body is also on the thin side.

12oz bottle from StFun. Thanks! Pours a lightly cloudy light orange with a finger of thick white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is light bitter. A little pine with grapefruit and other citrus. Light bodied with a relatively slick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, really good. I would gladly drink this one again. Thanks a lot.

Pours mostly clear deep gold wit a generous white head. Citrus and pine aroma. The flavor is assertive bitterness with enough malt support to make this one a very nice IPA. Long bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of queenholly. Thanks! Yay, finally a Flat 12 beer that’s not a gusher! Pours a hazy orange color with a large frothy head. Good head retention. Aroma of big citrus hops with a bit of pine. The taste is big citrus, pine, resin hops. Pale malts. Hop agressive, refreshing, fairly fresh. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Nice beer.
