Thanks! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ Beerlovers Bar. Black little head. Nose is too soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, sticky with dark sugar. Taste is soy sauce, sticky umami, thick teriyaki sauce, coffee, sugar, coats your mouth. Just way too umami for me with nothing balancing but that is a common profile for Brewski stouts it seems, just not my thing.

New imperial stout by this Swedish craft brewer, bottle at Gollem in Antwerp shared by Craftmember. Thinnish, pale yellowish beige, lightly lacing, open head on a black beer with hazy burgundy edges. Aroma of caramel sauce, cappuccino, chocolate, beef stock, candied fig, teriyaki, bayleaf, 'Haagse hopjes', coffee cream, mocha ice cream, chestnuts, raisins. Sweet onset, candied dates and raisins with a beef broth-tinged umami edge, light soy sauce even, soft carbo, thick, creamy, oily body; caramelly and nutty malt sweetness, thick and mouth-filling, acquiring a toasty, even slightly roasted bitterness in the finish but still remaining predominantly caramelly and chocolatey sweet, coffeeish touch in the finish with warming alcohol and a spicy hop touch. Typical modern and sweet American style imperial stout, nice but not too remarkable within its specific style.

Keg at Evening Star. It pours jet black with a thick dark tan head. The aroma is rich roast malts, intense, sweet, oily, umami, liquorice, tangy fruits and peppery spice. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, charred wood, coffee cake, dark chocolate, gateaux, cocoa, peppery spice, charred wood and oily action with a slick finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Oily and unctuous. Robust and flavourful.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque pitch black with a small light brown head. Nose has charcoal and licorice - pretty intense. Massive sweet roasted body - again with licorice dominating and the lactose sweetness contributing in a subdued way. Pretty heavy stuff this one. Warming alcohol finish. No more mango, huh? I might have believed that with any other brewery than Brewski. And speaking of Brewski, whi do you guys insist on lactose in every other beer these days? It sure ain't vegan friendly! 070618
