Oktoberfest lagers are the ultimate party beer. Up front, they’re rich, sweet, and malty, but they finish dry and clean with an ever-so-slight touch of hops. Prost!

16oz can-pours an off white head and hazy amber color. Aroma is medium malt, then lots of sweet lemon/pine hops. Great out of the standard style (continental hops out, northwest in!) American interpretation. Taste is medium malt-caramel, then lots of sweet lemon/pine hops-slightly bitter, more aromatic. OK effervescence/soft carbonation. Nice. Thanks to Wasatch(BA).

Can from trade with akevitt. Thanks Jason. It poured an almost clear orange golden body and a white head. That’s quite normal for an oktoberfest. What surprised me was the lovely hop profile in this beer. It was packed full of apricot, flowers and pine, as well as some resin and a maltyness trying to balance it. The flavor isn’t on the same level, but sure something for a hophead. There’s still the lovely apricot, flower and pine, but it’s too high on bitterness. Full body and a long, long hoppy finish. Lager, who should have thought that. (080216)

Can. An orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of grapefruit, while the flavor is sweet with strongest notes of grapefruit, but also notes of malt and caramel. Much more like an IPA, than an Oktoberfest - maybe a Minnesota Oktoberfest ;-) Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Can 47,5 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Slightly hazy, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Very fresh and piney aroma. Medium body with light caramel accents and otherwise completely dominated by the very dry, piney aroma hoppiness. Distinctly bitter finish. Excellent, but in style very far from an Oktoberfest! If this was served in the beer halls of Munich, the poor local beerdrinkers would never what hit them... 110108

47.5 cL can. Pours hazy orange with a diminished white head. Aroma is slight spiced, solid floral hoppy aroma. Flavour is medium sweet and solid fruity towards fresh fruity hoppy. Ends very fresh fruity. Nice ipa by all means, but this ha very little to do with a classic Octoberfestbier.

Can from Tytoanderso - Thanks! Pours a mildly hazy orange with a smaller beige head. Aroma of fruits, mainly citrus, and hints of maltiness, Flavor is fruity and crisp, citrus, apple, apricot blend before the hops meet in the tail. Interesting take on the style.

16 oz can from tytoanderso; copper with a big yellowish glass-lacing head; nose of grassy and floral hops and caramel; flavor of hop bitterness, a little rye grain, and caramel.

Deep, clear foxy colour, with fluffy, off-white head. Absolutely beautiful C-hops, but mildly dosed, very aromatic, dry hopbales and ending in a meaty, even fishy ester. Bitterish and none-too-sweet caramel. Rather well balanced. Nettlecheese and hops (hopscheese?). I wonder where/if the rye contributes. Slight slickness, dry finish. Wow, thanks David - this is one great, unusual lager. More of that!
