Be transported to Polynesia, with Amarillo, Denali and Citra hops bringing those tropical waves of orange, pineapple and fruit salad. Two varieties of oats give the beer a silky mouthfeel and to really embrace the Mai Tai concept, we’ve added natural flavours of orange, almond and lime, and some brown sugar for a nod to our friend Mr Rum. Mahalo? You’re welcome.

440ml can. Orange-gold and hazy pour with small white head, some retention. Aroma is citrus notably orange, quite aromatic with the flavourings coming through but would prefer some more hops. Taste is fairly sweet, bready malts, a strong bucks fizz, softer grapefruit, citrus zest. Modest bitterness for the style. Body is moderate to chewy, average carbonation. It doesn't taste like a 8% ABV. Nice but probably average for a DIPA.

Can at home picked up from the brewery. A hazed mid orange coloured pour with a loose fading white head. Aroma is juicy five alive, pineapple, mango, orange, fruit punch, soft wheat. Flavour is composed of bready, woody wheat, bitter orange, mango, warming alcohol. Palate is woody, wheat, salty, light tang, moderate carbonation. Ok.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at Bottle Apostle, South Hackney. Pours hazy gold with a modest, foamy white head. Lots of bright, zesty citrus, some oily orange peel, nips of grapefruit pith, pine. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more oily citrus peel, zesty orange and pithy grapefruit. Long on the citrus. Kind of fun.

Can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and reasonably smooth, a decent minerally crispness on the back end. Light malts, a thin creamy sweetness. Quite a pronounced orange peel and marmalade richness and bitterness. Not quite matching that in strength is tinned tropical fruits. Pineapple, mango, guava and a trace of coconut. Strong cooling pine runs throughout. Almost works well but that tang and peel are quite strong.
