Draught@TCBW2018. Deep coppery brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, some wood, vanilla, mild grains and figs with some dried fruits. Flavour is sweet malts, toffee, fudge, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla and also some plum pudding like elements. Quite boozy, but still a nice sipper.

375ml bottle. Clear dark brown, small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, alcohol, dried fruits. Taste is sweet, lots of bourbon barrel, dried fruits, raisin, caramel, very boozy finish. Couple of years old now and still a little hot on the alcohol, but otherwise I like it.

At a tasting, no head, clear brown to dark red clour, nutty, cakey, rum aroma and flavour, cakey maltiness stronger in flavour with some dark bread coming through, mellow sweetness. Quite easy to sip slowly, nice and quite enjoyable.

On keg at Brewdog Lothian Rd, Edinburgh. Appearance - deep brown with thin but attractive lacing. Nose - chocolate orange, a touch of hazelnut. Boozy wood but fairly elegantly done. Taste - chocolate, hazelnut and honeycomb. Molasses and lots of brown sugar. Palate - full bodied and rich through middle and end. Gets away with not being too sweet, mind. Overall - this is lovely. Barley wine? Not sure! Imperial brown ale I'd say.
