It's really nice to have a really bad beer ever once in a while to remind you and make you appreciate what a really good beer is. This one is that bad beer.

24 oz. can from Orem, Utah State liquor store. Pours a crystal clear gold color with a large white head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Smells like pale lager and booze. Tastes like every other high gravity malt liquor - boozy and a bit harsh. Some sweetness. It may be a little smoother than other Steel Reserve beers, but that's not saying much. Liquid headache.

Can from Hilltop Grocery, Sloop Point, North Carolina. Golden with a carbonation and a thin head. Strong tasting lager with a bubble-gum sweetness for taste.

Can. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing hed. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy neutral aroma. Light bitter flavor. Short light bitter finish. Oily palate. Not that alcoholic.

A tribute to drowland. Massive can at the Thunderbird malt likka tikka tasting. It pours clear amber with medium white head. The nose is burnt plastic, corn, butter, grainy, tarmac and rotten vegetation. The taste is grassy, corn, sweet garbage, butter and weird bitterness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. It’s bad state of affairs when a beer like this is one of the best of the tasting. Leaves a dirty taste in your mouth...

24oz can from stfun for FBW 2013. Thanks dude! 2010 vintage. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold with about a finger of thick white head. Aroma of cotton candy, rotten green apples, some grains and boozy goodness. Taste is light sweet. Sugar water and red apples, grains and boozy. Full bodied with a sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a super long finish. Overall, pretty good actually. A little sweet for my taste but very drinkable.

Can. Pours clear gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has strong notes of sweet corn, grains and a good amount of booze. Flavor is similar with a sweet malt start but finish is quite boozy and slightly off putting.

Plastic nose. Clear yellow, head. Corn and cane sugar flavor but not badly cloying. Better than regular Steel Reserve but still a drain pour.

Can courtesy of Kinz at the 19th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head that quickly fades. Aroma of green banana, grain, grassy hops. The taste is sweet corn, tart finish. Medium bodied, harsh. Foul.

24oz can from the state store. What was I thinking? The good: Pours crystal clear golden with a big white head and some lacing. The bad: Everything else! Sweet, corn, honey. The taste is bitter alcohols. I should have put it in the freezer, maybe it would have been better. Footbalmed 23oz’s.
