Back in May 2018 we brewed 'Coconut Crater', an Imperial Milk Stout with coconut, cacao and vanilla. Before packaging, we put 200l of the base beer in a selected barrel and aged it for 16 months. The result? Clavius.

The beer has matured and picked up light notes of wood, caramel and spirit, with full bodied overtones of toffee and fudge which enhances the chocolate and coconut flavours from its predecessor. Clavius tastes good fresh and may improve with time.

Pours black, minimal carbonation (bit some). Deep smell of sweet coconut, chocolate, some vanilla and some barrel. Little bit thin mouthfeel, pretty hot alcohol. Taste is loads of coconut, and chocolate. Subtle vanilla and lactose.

Pours black, small white head. Smell is full, coconut, sweet. Taste is full, chocolate, coconut ( intense ) , mild roastyness. Good body, very nice !

30/XI/19 - sample @ Day 2 of Billies Craft Beer Festival 2019, BB: n/a - (2019-2054) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!

Aroma: lots of dark chocolate, nice roast, quite some coconut, caramel, vanila. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots and lots of chocolate, coconut, bounty candy bar, caramel, lovely stuff. Aftertaste: sweet, caramel, chocolate, coconut, gentle roast, very nice beer!
