An India pale ale packed with whole tangerine & pineapple
Imagine the tropical haze of a lazy afternoon- into-evening. Your official duties for the day have been to maybe take a hike to a secluded waterfall, perhaps grill something, definitely chill with plenty of sand between your toes…and crack a phenomenal beer to complete the experience. Check, check, check again and…pfffft…check.
This ain’t no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.
Working with fruit can be amazing and so using amazing quality fruit is key to achieving that wonderful freshness. The high-end pureed fruit selected here blends exceptionally well with the aroma and flavors from the hops, creating a multi-layered IPA that also has fresh hoppy dankness and bitterness that superbly rounds out this beer.

355ml can - Pours a hazy orange amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is apricot, tangerine and toasted malts. A similar taste, sweet toasted malts and tangerine flavours with a grassy citrusy hoppy bitter finish.

Rocky white head on a hazy amber coloured body. Pineapple & tangerine aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a lively back. Orange, herbal, pineapple & bitter hoppy tastes. Decent - if you like orange.

Can only, so little chance to judge color . Maybe a light beer color, or gold, with some marmalade in it. Sweet tangerine smell in just the right note. The Stone IPA taste is still footloose on the palate. Tangerine flavor comes up second, but does not detract. Another fruited beer that still remembers it's a beer first.

12 oz. can, 6.7% ABV, Packaged Date: 04/06/2022, Best By Date: 08/04/2022
AROMA: Scents of tangerine and hops with a hint of pine resin.
APPEARANCE: Pours a slightly-cloudy, amber-orange with a tall, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly with excellent lacing.
TASTE: The front-end is ever-so-slightly sweet with flavors of tangerine and pine. The back-end is medium bitter with more of the same flavors. It's a nice experience as the transition from sweet to bitter is smooth, rather than abrupt, like some of the other beers I have tried.
MOUTHFEEL: It is medium bodied with a slightly slick texture and a long, bitterish finish.
OVERALL: Interesting citrus flavors and not being overly sweet, makes for a nice summer beer! And the moderate ABV level, means you can down a few of these on your porch, without getting completely snockered. All-in-all, I find this to be a refreshing change from the typical grapefruit/lemon IPAs that seem to dominate the summer market. It's a well-crafted beer that I will definitely be buying again.

Can at Lumiere. Bright orange color, hazed, big head. Perfumed. Base is a solid IPA with abundant malts and intense hops juice. Flavorful fruity notes but not excessively artificial, hops flavors are balanced not covered. Super tasty, good body, savory finish, very well balanced. Very good one.

25 December 2021. Christmas Day Beer Tasting; cheers to Anke, Pieter, Caro & Arne!
Can from Geers. Hazy orange, small, foamy, white head; some sediment. Aroma of orange peel, overripe tangerine, mango, pineapple, pine, biscuit. Taste has sweet ripe tangerine, mango & pineapple in a biscuity, slightly peanutty malt body. Bitter, piney hoppy finish with lots of orange peel, quite pithy and dry. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Added flavours often impair 'natural' bitterness but they do well here.
