We're big fans of the classic Old Fashioned – a 19th Century cocktail traditionally made by muddling sugar with bitters, then adding Whiskey and a twist of citrus rind. This is our take, with Barley Wine as the base beer and the classic orange zest to serve. It's been in barrels for 12 months, picking up a well-rounded bourbon profile with some vanilla and caramel sweetness. Bitters optional!

Keg at CBC Holborn Giles, 14/08/17. Rich chestnut brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is toffee, bourbon notes, spice, sweet tones, light red berry. Taste comprises JD and coke, dark fruit rinds, toffee fudge, sweet licks. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok BA BW if a touch overly sweet.

Keg at Craft CG. It pours clear deep brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is rich and rather sweet, perfumed, vanilla ice cream, cherry, bakewell tart/pudding, creamy, toasted brown sugar and toffee. The taste is heavy sweet upfront, toasted brown sugars, toffee, caramel, crunchie, vanilla, warming alcohol, fruit cake, wood, leather with a warming and sweet finish. Fullish body and fine carbonation. Nice aspects to it, but across too sweet and boozy for me. I’m sure some will love it though.

Tap@Taphouse Siren TTO, Copenhagen - reddish brown coloured pour with a off-white head. Aroma and taste is sweet and light toasted malty, lots of sweet caramel and treacle notes, dried fruit tea cake with the cherry coming through, resonating bourbon soaked wooden accents into the finish.

Tap at Taphouse, Copenhagen. Colour is slightly cloudy dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Bread, grain, sweetness, some dry fruits, sweetness and very strong malts. I like strong malts in this one but too simple. Nice surprise.
