Shipyard Maui Mango is a light bodied wheat ale infused with Yerba Mate and Tiesta Tea Maui Mango blend. It has pronounced aromas of tropical fruit including pineapple and mango. The sweet malt aromatics complement the delicate yet slightly tart finish. Each 12 ounce beer contains the equivalent of one cup of tea.

Can, undated, drunk 11/11/18.
Pours a very lightly copper-tinted blonde. A smattering of white head atop steadily fades to a ring.
Smells of mango and maybe a touch of fruity ester, with a touch of base malt behind it. No flaws at least, which you would normally expect from Shipyard.
In the mouth it's light, fruity, simple, mindless and showcases strong mango flavor up front, which isn't too sweet or artificial, thankfully. It does feel like they've actually steeped mango tea in this. Quickly coming on its heels, however, is a caramel-like malt that feels much more like an amber ale base than a golden one. Either that or its already started to oxidize. Either way, the stronger, breadier notes don't work nearly as well as lighter, honey and cracker notes would. Moderate, somewhat fizzy carbonation and no alcohol or flaw.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 9/26/2017. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy mangoes, melon, pineapple, orange, strawberry, citrus peel, hibiscus tea, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, flowers, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruits, tea, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy mangoes, melon, pineapple, orange, strawberry, citrus peel, hibiscus tea, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, flowers, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal/floral/grassy bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy mangoes, melon, pineapple, orange, strawberry, citrus peel, hibiscus tea, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, flowers, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruits, tea, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/tartness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/tangy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is an excellent fruited American pale wheat ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruits, tea, and pale/wheat malt notes; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the very mildly tart/bitter finish. This is huge on juicy tropical/citrus fruits, with balanced flowers/tea and pale/wheat malts. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Loved this one, definitely exceeded my expectations.

Sample at the brewery taproom. Hazy orange-gold color with a medium bone white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of herbs, fruit and wheat. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal tea, fruit and wheat. The finish is wheaty with a berry aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz can. Opaque dark gold pour with a khaki head and decent retention. Almost no lacing. Citrus nose. As advertised, good mango flavor on top of a solid wheat ale base. No tea flavors. This should be categorized as a wheat ale or a fruit beer, not a S/H/V.
