We aged this imperial milk stout to perfection in Rye whiskey barrels and added vanilla beans. The result is a slightly sweet, smooth, creamy stout with an underlying rye spiciness and boozy finish.

Bottled 10/23/24, drunk 12/24/24.
Well shit, I didn't realize this was frickin two months old. I assumed it was a shelf turd, like every other OSA beer around here. Didnt look until after opening. Damn. Oh well, here goes nothing...very small smattering of grey-tan head. Clear. Dark brown.
Spicy, drying rye whiskey is somewhat mellow and vanilla beans are tasteful. Choco-lactic lactose and fudgey malts with light barrel character and only light warming from alcohol. Not all that cohesive or rounded/mellowed yet, but could be a lot worse....
Malty, though with some thin, very dry and spicy notes and loosened by the use of lactose. But for two months old this is pretty stellar. Still some glue-like alcohol, but nothing burns. Very sweet finish. Yeah, needs a lot more time in the bottle, at least another six-to-nine months. But it's still passable.

2024 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates quickly. Vanilla and rye on the nose with dark malt and chocolate aromas. Palate is very similar with more vanilla, chocolate and light rye whiskey flavors. Balanced finish with creamy vanilla, chocolate and rye whiskey that lingers.

Dark pour with a fine-grained beige head. Whiskey, vanilla, toffee, sugar, rye whiskey, coconut, dried fruit. Pretty damn good, just a bit too sweet.

Can from Beer dome. Black with beige, lasting head. Sweet liquorice and chocolate aroma. Some roast in there too. Fairly sweet taste with more chocolate, roast and vanilla. Hints of booze right at the end. Drinks very nice, with a slight old money vibe to it.
