Bottle. Inky black body, medium dense ochre/espresso head. Aroma sweet and bitter, mostly coffee, roast, and toasted sugars; modest barrel. Body initially dry and bitter with oak, bourbon, and coffee, opening up with a bit of sweetness imparted by toasted sugars, but mostly dry, boozy, and warming, complex but not heavy or syrupy. Unsurprisingly a winner.

Very smooth, very good BBA stout, easy and rich and layered, notes of dark chocolate, anise, coffee, and bourbon with undercurrents of molasses, black cherry, vanilla, and bitter roasted malt. Grows woody and dry on the back end, with an espresso fade laced with a shot of top-shelf bourbon. Pours a thick black with a modest brown head and no lace. Massive waves of chocolate and bourbon wafting off the nose. Good texture, thick and creamy with a slight hit of boozy warmth. Pretty standard as far its BBA stout profile, but well-made and incredibly drinkable. Nice beer.

On draught at Bob's Bar during the "Dark Horse Barrel Aged Night!!" event on 08/03/2017. Jet black color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing. Bourbon, vanilla and malt aroma. Medium body with flavors of oaky vanilla, bourbon, coffee and malt. The finish is sweet with a bourbon and vanilla aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/18/2016. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt, coffee, vanilla, lactose, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal hop and roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, light coconut/smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, coffee, vanilla, lactose, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Touch of dryness from roast/hop bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 7.5%, with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is an awesome BBA cream stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, coffee, vanilla, lactose, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Completely identical to the base beer, with added bourbon barrel notes. Very well balanced and not overwhelming on the barrels. A really enjoyable offering.
