Playing pastry stout April theme game. Dark pour and small beige head. Nose is burnt cocoa and some cream. Tastes of flat rootbeer, cream puff, burnt cocoa nibs, licorice, touch red velvet. Does remind of Whoopie pie and not to sweet. Lighter palate.

A deep dark stout with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light vanilla, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, light mineral notes, light vanilla, pleasant. On tap at brewery.

On tap pour into taster cup at Craft Brew Race Portland. Appearance is opaque black/dark brown, large foamy, light brown head (but tap misbehaving). Aroma is mild roasted malt, little vanilla, hint of cocoa. Taste is burnt chocolate (like burnt whoopie pie) at outset, standard chocolate/vanilla whoopie pie second half. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, thick, soft carbonation and balanced roasted bittersweet finish. Overall, tastes like whoopie pie so it does what it sets out to. A little burnt at the outset.

Pours mahogany tinged black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Chocolate and marshmallow aromas. Soft with chocolate and espresso upfront turning to vanilla in the medium length finish.

Got in a BIF from tasterschoice62. 22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness/smoke, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla/cocoa, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness/smoke, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness/smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla/cocoa, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slight dryness from roast bitterness as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice sweet stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla/cocoa, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

22 oz. bottle purchased at 7-11 Kittery, ME. Black pour with a thin tan ring of head. Aroma of brownie batter, chocolate and traces of vanilla. Ok, the whoopie pie aroma does work!
Flavor is a mirror image of the aroma. The body is slightly thinner than I was hoping for but it is a lower gravity, so not a major negative. The whoopie pie the brewer was after is found here, pretty creative. Lingering chocolate and vanilla notes after the sip. Nice.

Bottle shared by AirForceHops, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a solid black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of vanilla and chocolate and something that reminds me of marshmallow. Lots of vanilla and chocolatey goodness in the flavor. Light body and level of carbonation. Nicely done beer, but really could use a hint more body.
