Pour is a murky river water brown with almost no head. Aroma is cinnamon but a bit muted vs. other winter spiced ales I've had recently. Flavor is again everything muted. Some cinnamon and cherry with a bitterness but not as intense as other spiced beers. If you are going to make a spiced ale, you better spice the hell out of it.

Rich deep brown coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of spices, caster sugar, candy sugar and a touch of molasses and alcohol on the end. Medium-bodied; Noticeable malty flavour at first with some earth and cereal and showing some subdued sugars with molasses, caster sugar and even some fruit-based sugar coupled with some alcohol and light spices. Aftertaste shows the spices well with some light lactose and unfinished sugars, along with the earthy maltiness that was noticeable at first. Overall, a decent spice-based beer with a good deal of sugars and some light fruit and molasses on the end. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 10-December-2016 yesterday for US$1,99 sampled at home in Dearborn, Michigan on 11-December-2016.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy ruby red/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, apple, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, cinnamon, orange peel, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, spices, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, apple, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, cinnamon, orange peel, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, apple, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, cinnamon, orange peel, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and fruity yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice English winter warmer style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Poured a hazy orange amber with a bubbly but quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma has notes of light malts, fruits, honey and a bit of spice. Flavor has some clear light citrus notes with some cinnamon and honey. Surprisingly light for a christmas beer.

Little chunks and things foating around in an iced tea colored beer. Smell is somewhat like spiced candy or rum. Quite strong and bitter spicey. Could take it or leave it. Not much on these spicey holiday brews. Too much citrus peel.

Another from Skyview. Some malt. I expected more spice, and there is a little, but mostly very light cinnamon and a little citrus. Brown color.

2007 bottle: This beer pours a clear dark amber color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly. Minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet spices and fruit with some vinegar in the background. Medium body with flavors of cinnamon, tart fruit and again a light vinegar taste behind it all. The finish is short and sweet with a mildly spiced aftertaste. My guess is the beer does not hold up very well despite only being a year old. Slightly below average overall.
