Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a rich, three centimetre tall tan head that fades fast, but leaves a ton of small bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of light grass, a hint of alcohol, some grain and a lot of funk - very interesting and almost medicinal aroma. Light-bodied; Strong funky coffee flavour at first with a big dose of wheat, malt and grain and a lot of alcohol still showing along with some other funky stuff. Aftertaste shows some odd coffee notes, a bit of grain, a lot of alcohol and bitterness and a bit of earth tucked away. Overall, an interesting beer that shows a bit funky, but when you realise there is coffee in a wheat beer, you make sense of it and think it’s okay. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2016 sampled at home in Washington on 25-October-2016.

12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a light haziness and a fizzy white head. Slightly yeasty bubblegum and wheat aroma followed by strong coffee aroma. Somewhat sweet wheat (thinking breakfast cereal here) and bubblegum flavor mixes well with the restrained coffee flavor. A pleasant surprise.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy deep golden color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of coffee, cocoa, cream, lemon, orange, banana, clove, light bubblegum, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, coffee, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of coffee, cocoa, cream, lemon, orange, banana, clove, light bubblegum, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, cocoa, cream, banana, clove, light bubblegum, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, coffee, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/coffee balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very nice coffee hefeweizen style. All around good balance and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, coffee, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
