12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/17/2012. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, raisin, plum, fig, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, toffee, toast, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light amount of herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a good bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice English amber ale, more of a winter warmer in my opinion. All around good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt, fruit yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Amber in colour, malty nose. The beer starts malty and roasted dry. Very smooth. The mainpart continues very smooth, roasted dry with a subtle malty sweetness. Ver well balanced. The aftertaste is smooth, roasted-dry, malty and not too sweet.
A very nice winter ale. I like it - not too sweet and easy drinkable! --> 12/12/12/12

A fair beer, amber color, spicy hop nose and flavors, somewhat cookieish malts, well balanced and drinkable. Nothing stands out here, doesn’t shout, just drinks.

Bottle thanks to Fratto. Pours with a clear, deep golden hued body with a small white head that doesn’t last long. Aromas are of honey, caramel, mildly malty, very slight roast. Flavors are slightly oxidized, crystal malt, iced tea, honey. Some mildly spicy hop character. Medium bubbles, pretty bland.

Bottle from Liz. Pours ruddy copper with a 3 finger creamy beige head. Aroma of mild roast malt with hints of spice. Flavor is sweet, lightly sweet, roast malt with very interesting chocolate and mild spice aspects. But it’s not an over the top sort of thing.

Bottle. Pours a rich amber, clear, with a weak, white head. Malty aroma with hints of caramel, toffee and fruits. Sweet flavor with a prominent malt character and notes of toasted bread, cinnamon, dark fruit and caramel. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes sweet and quite malty with only faint bitterness. About average.

Bottle. Malty aroma, slightly vinous or oxidised. Dark red brown colour, seems clear. Good stable tan head. The flavour is also vinous and oxidised. OK malty and slightly roasted. Subtle creamy aftertaste. OK, I guess, but I am not a fan of oxidised-tasting beers.

Tea and vanilla aroma, maybe a little toffee. Tea colored, with a medium yellow head, good lacing. Malt forward swiftly transitioning to tea and cherries at midpalate. Finishes with grass and moss. Unusually bitter for an amber. Perhaps a little over done with whatever hop gives the bitter mossiness. At the same time, I think it may appeal to people who like that. It’s quite good, and it certainly is different.
