Can at RBSG. Pours a golden orange with a slight haze. Aroma is citra for sure and a little deeper sweetness from the bourbon barrel. Sweet, tangy, and tart citrus flavors and a self-perceived mellowness from the barrel. Adds a woody character. Interesting and overall good.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is citrus, resin, and oak. Thin mouthfeel with nice citra, dry hop, light bitterness. Very good.

12 oz bottle. First I want to say, Citra is a good pale ale, but I’m not sure why I’d want it in a Bourbon Barrel. The idea was weird enough that I figured I had to pick it up. Pours a hazy light amber with a slightly off-white head and a few drifting particles. Nice fruity citrus aroma with maybe a barrel hint and some berry. Flavor is, for the most part, just oak barrel. Some grassy hops in there, too. It’s not bad, really, there’s just not much to it, and not much left of the pale ale.

(Thanks Cory "BlowOffTube") Bottle. A- Citrus, pine. A- Dark orange color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Citrus, piney, oaky, caramel, bitter, malty. P- Medium body, thick mouth feel, soft carbonation, bitter finish. O- I was intrigued to try this due to the simple fact that I love Citra hops and I love barrel aging, so to combine the two seemed promising. Well....this wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t out of this world either. I give Odd Side Ales credit for the attempt, but the bourbon notes were not present other than making it have an oaky taste. I imagine that the non aged and original version of this pale ale is quite good. This one however is average at best. I do like the label though!

Bottle pour to pint glass. Shiny, but slight hazy, medium gold; little head after pouring right down the middle of the glass. I expected a boozy nose, but was surprised with a fruity citrus. Subtle booziness didn’t overwhelm the palate. I wouldn’t buy a six-pack, but maybe will pick up a single now and then.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, bread, oak, light vanilla, light bourbon, and floral/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops, malt, and light-moderate bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, bread, toffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/oak earthiness. Light amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pineapple, caramel, bread, toffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon, and floral/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, malt sweetness, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/hop/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice barrel aged pale ale. All around good balance and complexity of bright hop, malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
