Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of wavers1. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a beige head. Yeast, phenols and some overripe fruit in the nose. Solid body, lots of nuts, caramel, brown sugar, overripe fruit with a touch of Belgian yeast. Surprisingly hoppy finish. 230311

From tap at Sunset Grill. Pours dark brown to a deep golden amber with a small tan head. Aroma is slight spiced yeasty and solid malty. Dense alcohol too. Sweet caramelish and slight spiced to phenolic. Dry and overripe fruity yeasty to malty flavoured. Slight bitter and dry finish. Ends spiced.

Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours with a tan head over a murky amber red body. Moderate lace, but some alcohol legs. Aroma of fusel, banana, chocolate, rotting orange rind, pruno (prison hooch), plums and brown sugar. Taste is rich and creamy with brown sugar, cognac brandy, rich buttery toffee, cherry blossom, pear, plum and dates. Very complex, deep, rich and immediately warming. Strong alcohol flavor, but the burn works out nicely. There is a bit more bitterness than I think is appropriate for the style, and the rubbing alcohol is definitely there. Full bodied, and creamy. Very warming, with lingering fusel and bitterness. A very good beer for Harpoon, a nice quad!

Bottle (with thanks to goldtwins.) Pours a medium brown with a big beige head, lots of streams of carbonation and aromas of banana, bubble gum, cloves, plums and brown sugar. Flavor is a lot like a hodge-podge of the above, but it seems a bit unbalanced... ABV is fairly obvious, carbonation is a bit too much, and there is a little bit of a landfill like flavor or something, but it might just be the effect of jumbling so many other flavors together. This seems to go away a bit as it warms. Still, it is good enough.

Pours golden brown into a Trappist glass. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to sim surface. Clove aromas. Banana, clove and pit fruit upfront. Lasting alcohol burn.

Bottle - labeled as 11.75% abv - cloudy purplish red, with a small ring of foam - smells of caramel, plum, light hints of smoke and other more common phenols (clove, banana) - full-bodied with moderate carbonation - sweet, but balanced well by a wee bit of tartness and spicy alcohol - a lot of banana, clove, bubblegum, a hint of peaty smoke - dark fruit and brown sugar - alcohol is warming, but never overpowering - one of the more solid american-made quads I’ve had in some time, and it’s made by Harpoon!
