Appearance: Off white tightly packed, lingering head. Extravagant lacing. Moderate carbonation. Gorgeous chestnut brown color.
Aroma: Great balance between malt & hop aromas. Noticeably distinct classic American hop aromas of citrus and red berries. Malt aromas of sweet caramel & chocolate, alongside a whiff of toasted bread.
Flavour: Upfront citrus from the hops, especially lemon & orange, followed by a wave of chocolate before a satisfying wave of hop bitterness to finish. Very satisfying. Notes of toast & coffee almost reminds me of a tropical Ethiopian coffee – while the more dominant citrus meets chocolate character of the beer is reminiscent of a lemon & chocolate tart.
Mouthfeel: Well rounded, moderate carbonation, smooth & medium bodied. No harshness & a well-balanced bitterness. Super drinkable.

Can from Beer52. Deep chestnut with a middling beige head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Creamy chocolate on tasting swiftly followed by a hefty pine bitterness- maybe closer to a black IPA than a brown ale? It’s got a powdery texture and the fizz is aggressively prickly. By the end the piney bitter hops feel a little overdone for the beer and a burnt note has started to emerge. Despite liking it at first it’s pretty unbalanced and I went off it a bit as I drank more. Still ok though.

Can at Rose & Thistle, Frimley Green. 15/09/16. Pleasant sweet, almost herbal, aroma. Dark chestnut. Fluffy beige head. Medium bitter, with a stronger bitterness in finish. Umami. Sweet coffee beans - ie bitter but something laying underneath. Medium bodied. Carbonates. The finish is noticabley dry, leaves a chalky mouthfeel. Enjoyable. Does not over do it. Just let down by the finish.

Keg @ BrewDog, Manchester. Dark reddish-brown with a small head. Has a lightly sweetened dark malt character, flavoursome and easy-drinking for its strength. Slightly sticky-sweet in its texture with just a hint of roasted malt in its nose.

Keg tap at Draft House Charlotte. Impenetrable dark brown. Respectable tan head. Gorgeous. Chocolate fudge sundae, Horlicks, cinnamon, raisin, sarsaparilla and a leathery note in the aroma. It starts milky sweet and then gets fairly bitter. There’s a bittersweet/sour interplay in the finish. Not the most engaging beer, but certainly tasty and well-made.
