Winter Sour - Plums, cherries and blueberries form the heart of this sour. Soured with Lactobacillus, and bedded on a hefty load of oats, Cyanea presents the flavours of the season. Cherries bring a piquant sweetness, brimming with tannic tartness, the blueberries accentuate this tang with their trademark earthy hit. Finishing this brew comes the plums, with a deep honeyed sweetness that tempers the berries before it.

Kettle sour brewed with oats and ‘fruited’ with plum, cherry and blueberry, cans shared by Johan, thanks! Moussy, pinkish off-white, medium thick, opening head on a cloudy deep purple beer with burgundy red-brown hue. Aroma of indeed blueberry but in a fruit yoghurt-like form, cooked blue plum and cherry juice also present as promised, lemon juice, sourdough, kefir, pomegranate. Lots of fruit tartness in the onset mingling with lactic sourness, sour blueberry and cherry effects clear enough but less plum, lemony edges, medium carb; rounded and bit creamy mouthfeel, very yoghurt effect from the lactic acid, with the sour red fruit lingering till the end, even becoming a bit puckering. Light herbal and exotic-fruity notes show up in the end too, varying between rosehip, pomegranate and roselle, but hop bitterness remains very low. Rather straightforward as expected from a kettle sour, but juicy and performing well in the fruit department. Recommended, if you are into sour fruit beers that are on the ‘easier’ and not overly complex side of the spectrum, but without any compromise towards the larger audience that probably would expect artificial sweetening. Interesting one, all things considered.

150ml draught, beer flight at RØØR. Pink layer remaining over a purple coloured, hazy, body. Poor lacing. Moderate smell of dark berry skins. Raspberry tartness to the taste profile partially offset by mid-sweet blue berries. Smooth tartness to the ending. Okay cleanser between the other four beers on the sample tray. (Oslo 02.09.2020).

3 May 2020. Anke's Secret Birthday Tasting avec Pieter. Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Pours hazy red with a completely thinning, pinkish head. Aroma of sour cherry, plum, raspberry, sour cream, yoghurt, lemon. Taste is a sour profile of cherries, plum, blueberries & lemon, a bit lactic, sour cream-like, with sweetish red jam and soft doughy malts in the back. Tart, fruity, cream, berry-like finish. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite nice.

Pours dark, unclear red to almost a shade of purple. Smell is bit weak, some fruits, creamy. Taste is full, diacetyl ( loads ! ) , tart, fruity back. Ruined by it's quality, unfortunately.

Keg at Elusive Tasting Room. Sweet fruity aroma - the plums, cherries and blueberries really come through. Solid pink-purple. Bubbly white head. Sour but tempted by an underlying sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Slick - smooth. Flat carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Good stuff.
