12 oz. bottle.

AROMA: Scents of mostly caramel and a bit of banana.

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear, light-orange amber with a small, white head that dissipates quickly.

TASTE: Lightly sweet with a slight bitterness on the back end. Flavor of caramel and a bit of spice.

PALATE: Medium-bodied with a slightly sticky texture. Soft carbonation and a short, bitter-sweet finish rounds things out.

OVERALL: Just average in almost every way possible. Definitely not one of their best beers, but it's not one of their worst either.

12 ounce bottle, 11/16/17. Clear amber, thin foamy tan head, decent retention. Aroma of toasted grainy malt and a bit of mild floral hops. The taste is caramel, toasted malt, grain, mild earthy hops. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness. Decent.

12 oz bottle from the winter variety pack. Aroma is caramel, toast. Pours clear copper with a thin off-white head. Taste is sweet and toasty, finishing with a light herbal hop bitterness. Wow, this is really tasty. Exceeds expectations.

12oz bottle. Neither a Dunkler Bock or a Maibock, something in between, hence the Amber Bock name. Filtered amber-copper body. Thin, off-white head. Drinks pretty clean, sweet, malty. Interesting malt and lagering notes, but doesn't really compete with a respectable German version. OK.

Pour is a clear amber with a very large white head. Aroma is a nice caramel malt. Flavor is a nice dry caramel malt. Bock beers aren't really my thing but this one was pretty decent. Lots of caramel malt and minimal sweetness.

Not a bad dark bock from Sam Adams, hitting the proper caramel notes required of the style without growing overly sweet or heavy. Caramel, toasted bread, biscuit, nuts, and slight hints of apple and sweet tea on the front, while the back end maintains a modest hop bitterness and a bready, clean finish. Pours a lovely copper-orange with a lasting eggshell head and moderate lacing. Nose offers up caramel and bread with a smidge of honey. Slick feel has just enough carbonation to hit that creamy sweet spot. Surprisingly good beer.

Bottle: Completely clear amber with a tall, tight, beige head. Caramel, sweet toasted grain malt aroma. Taste is sweet.....almost chewy caramel malt.. Toasty and malty.....very mild grainy bittering. Really hits the style points.....Nice.
