Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing! Floral beginning. Nice soft grain, coriander is there, hints of oranges with lots of floral fresh hops. Fruity with a nice soft yeasty Wit-Bier back. Great!

Extra hoppy (and spicy) version of Du Bocq's classic witbier; steinie bottle from the local Carrefour supermarket in Walcourt. Snow white, moussy, cobweb-lacing, pilowy and irregular head, misty pale straw blonde with vaguely greenish tinge and lively sparkling. Aroma of limoncello but without the alcohol, lime-scented hand soap, green banana, lots of coriander powder, Granny Smith apple, kaffir lime leaf, notes of peppermint, clay and chalk. Crisp onset, green banana, green pear and green apple, lively and minerally carbonation, soft soapy wheatiness with this typically 'deep' and dim wheat sourness to it, but also 'barley breadiness'; the strong aromatizing effects of lemongrass and lime zest appear quickly and, to be fair, provide a welcome distraction from the archetypical coriander-curaçao combo - even if those two are clearly present as well. The coriander, as usual in a 'blanche', accentuates the wheat soapiness, while a soft floral hop bitter touch provides some contrast. Very much a Hoegaarden-esque witbier in its core, but with a twist of some or other kind of lemony aroma, which I could appreciate more than I was expecting before opening the bottle. I guess Du Bocq indeed still understands Pierre Celis' old witbier standard very well.

Ruikt naar kapot gemaaid onkruid, tijm, rozemarijn, van die ingemaakte gember die je bij je sushi krijgt om je tanden te poetsen. Smaakt verrassend niet-kruidig voor wat je allemaal ruikt. Droog witbiertje met een wat grassige hop.

33cl bottle. A hazy yellow golden beer with a white head. Aroma of herbal malt, lemon, zest. Taste of herbal malt, lime, zest, yeast.

04-06-21 // 330ml. Definitely different than the regular Blanche de Namur. Yes Witbier body. But a lot more spice. Not necessary more bitterness. But a earthy hop spice.

33cl bottle. Pours pale yellow, hazy, with abundant white foam, generating a high head of fine foam. Aroma is immediately balsamic, then also citrus, herbal. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is well balanced between moderate sweetness and some bitter that is mostly felt in the final.

33cl Fles van Drankgigant. Tja, ik heb een zwak voor Blanche de Namur, deze kon ik niet laten staan. Het is m.i. vrijwel hetzelfde bier, veel korianderzaad en wat zepig aandoend, zalf, maar nu met wat peperig en iets kruidig van smaak, niet per sé hoppig. Aangenaam.

Couleur paille trouble, col épais blanc assez tenace.
Arôme met de suite en avant un bouquet un peu épicé tendant vers le gingembre - ce dernier est discret, en rétro apparaissent des notes d'agrumes - le Mosaic pourtant assez complexe reste plutôt en retrait. Grains en rétro.
Palais est léger finement citronné, assez complet en bouche avec le froment, un pétillant plutôt bien au devant avec un fini léger épicé de gingembre. Fin de bouche portant sur une pointe agrumes - citron vert.
Original, mais il reste encore bcp de boulot pour mettre en avant les houblons - on reste dans du grand classique belge alors que le Mosaic aurait pu apporter tellement plus.
Du Bocq se met doucement à l'heure des nouveaux houblons tout en gardant une approche des plus classiques.
