Bottle at home. Red-brown color, medium sized off-white to beige head. Don't get much aroma. Maybe a bit malty and bready. Flavor is also a lot more ehm…flat? Dull? Bland? I get malts, some sort of malty bitterness but it's a bit odd and hard to describe. It also leaves my mouth cheeks and tongue aa bit dry in the finish. Hmm I don't know, not a fan of this one, but it's totally drinkable so I'll finish it but I very much doubt I'd buy it again.

Dark brown colour, beige foam, disappears quickly. Sweet nose of caramel, spices. Taste is sweet, caramel, some tart notes. Ok.

Thx! Courtesey of Kraddel at his cellar cleaning tasting. 2016 Vintage. 330 ml. bottle sampled. Totally clear ??? amber, still some head. Nose is awful rotting grain, BE oxidized plastic, cooked cabbage. Taste is vegetable fizzy, sourish Sprite, cooked cabbage, rotting grains. That weird bit sour Sprite, really not good.

The obligatory brown one in this series of classic Belgian beers brewed southwest of Antwerp. Membranously lacing, medium thick, off-white, gradually dissolving head over a translucent brownish-bronze beer with ruddy hue. Aroma of dried peaches, quite a lot of iron or steel pipes, lightly toasted bread, butterscotch candy, old cookies, dried banana, hints of gin, candied figs, raw red cabbage. Sweet onset of dried banana, apricot and candied fig, but not cloying at all and balanced by an underlying sourishness and minerally, sharpish but - for a dubbel - standard carbonation. Slick, tad resinous mouthfeel, butterscotch- and eventually very lightly toast-like maltiness with metallic edges (the iron pipes again!), ending with some liquorice- and clove-like phenols but in a perfectly acceptable way, as well as something remotely gravy-like and a light herbal hop bitterishness - but malt and residual sugar sweetness, in a honeyish and caramelly way, remains the dominant factor. Alcohol provides some subtle 'afterwarmth' but remains perfectly hidden. Very classic in its make-up, sweet, not too complicated and very accessible, one for a large and traditional Belgian audience I'd say, but - apart from the strong iron note - free of technical flaws and in that sense meritorious enough, like the Blond one.

Thnx to marijke. Pours clear. Smell is weak, touch toasty. Taste is dry, mildly astigent, very remote accidic and spice. Some clove, mild esthers. Thin body. Rather bitter, some creamy, roastyness. Light sweetness. Ok.
