Imperial Brown Ale Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Toasted Coconut Added
This is our bourbon barrel-aged imperial brown ale, Mash, stretching to new levels. Mash & Coconut features nearly 400lbs. of toasted coconut per batch, which ratchets up the complex, native coconut character and complements the oaky and vanilla notes that are imparted to the beer as part of its extensive maturation in bourbon barrels.

Bottle. A- Vanilla, coconut, chocolate, syrup. A- Dark brown color, cloudy liquid, beige head. T- Vanilla, coconut, chocolate, sweet, booze. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Second Bruery beer after the first one being a White Chocolate Barleywine that was an infected mess. This was not infected but holy sweetness. I can see why people love or hate the Bruery. This was good but way too sweet and sugary. Liquid candy like. About 4-5 oz would be plenty.

(On tap @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Feb 1/19) Pours lightly hazed copper-brown with almost no head. Notes of sweet malt with brown sugar, toffee and lightly toasted notes, golden raisins, dates, ample toasty coconut, bourbon, vanilla, drying oak, slight chocolate. Sweetness is only slightly dampened on the finish, where the bourbon barrel becomes more prominent and amplifies the coconut into the aftertaste. Medium plus body, soft carbonation, some alcohol warmth. Quite a nice strong ale, a definite sipper but the coconut is well-integrated into the package and adds some interest.

Draft. A hazy red beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, bourbon, caramel, and a bit of coconut. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, coconut, alcohol, bourbon, nuts, and dried fruit, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Nice, but a bit OTT for me.

Bottle, 75cl. An almost clear one, brown in color and with a beige head. Alcohol, caramel, dark dried fruits, toffee, coconut notes and some meaty hints. It's full-bodied, warming and quite smooth on the palate, with lots of caramel, some coconut and dried fruits. Alcohol, meat and a bitter touch in the flavor. Lasting finish. A rather heavy beer, but sure nice. 181231
