28/9/2018. Bottle from BEER:shop, St.Albans. Pours slightly hazy mid brown with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits and nut with nice roasted notes. Moderate sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Liked this.

Bottle shared at DS Office 28/03/18. Many thanks!. A clear nut brown coloured pour with a sticky light tan head. Aroma is nutty earthy malts, twiggy, chestnut. Flavour is composed fo dry woody, nutty malts, hazelnut, earth, powder chocolate, twig. Palate is medium bodied, crisp, drying grains, . Lingering light liquorice. .

Bottle split at 36 Levels lost, thanks to Fergus, 28/03/18. Hazed chestnut brown to amber with a decent light beige head, Nose is dusty hops, toffee, light spice, faint pine needle. Taste comprises candied orange peel, toffee, straw, brown bread. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with earthy hop bitterness. Decent enough brown ale.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Fergus. Pours clear golden-brown with a frothy, off-white head. Toasted brown bread in the aroma, some earth, cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with nice brown sugar, brown bread, cocoa, pine, grapefruit. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good balance in the finish, more brown bread, faint roast, more cocoa. Really nice.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours lightly hazy deep brown with a medium white head. The aroma is earthy, chewy, brown bread, cola, dull smoke, dried fruits, fruit cake and a touch of spice. The taste is dry, bitter, chewy, brown bread, leather, fruit cake, burnt cake, spice and tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit chewy.

Cask at the standing order. Pours hazy brown, nose is roasted, caramel, toffee, taste is sweet, floral, toffee.

Cask at the Caley Picture House. Pours clear ruby with a thin beige head. Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Taste is light bitter, fruity, light roast. Praline maybe. Not bad.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2018. Chestnut in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Some citrus hops, red berry fruits, brown sugar, sweet malts and a gentle finish. Good.

Cask @ JDW Shrewsbury Hotel. Pours clear amber, small off-white head. Light malt on the nose. Smooth on the palate, wheaty almost, very lightly sweet with caramel hints. Ok.
