As Autumn creeps through Devon valleys, a mellow fruitfulness fills the air each morning. Mr Hunt’s cider press crushes ripe to the core apples to make sweet, cloudy cider. ’Tis Misty Maid’ said Mr Hunt, looking across the valley to his orchards.

500ml bottle from Greendale Farmshop, Exeter. Slightly hazed golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of apple, wood, funk. Taste is sweet, apple, woody, meaty, funky, with drying tannins. Medium bodied, light carbonation, medium sweet finish. Quite drinkable

Keg @ Stable, Whitechapel. Pours a misty pale gold, sparkling. Medium sweet apple fruit on the nose. Medium-sweet character with some nice sour shades, soft acidity, minimal tannin, nice apple flesh coming through. Well rounded sparkling cider overall with a little more going on than a standard medium.
