You’ll find three Lancastrian trail-blazers in this can. Atkinsons, supplying small-batch artisan roasted single origin coffee. Brades Farm, whose Jersey Holstein Hero produce barista milk, supplying us with rather the lactose. And finally us, bringing it all together into a silky smooth Stout.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. “Farmyard” is probably the word to describe the aroma of this beer ! Roast malts, yes, but also mud and cowpats ! It pouyrs almost black with a small cream head and good lacing. The flavour starts off a milky, but quickly progresses to raisins, sultanas and vanilla with traces of chocolate and cola. The finish is sweeet and fixxy. Overall it’s a bit strange.

Shrewsbury Month Beer Exchange, Chez Sophie; 29th April 2019. Just the four of us this month, so mostly smaller offerings to share. Cheers Paolo for the 440ml can (BB 20th Oct 2019). Pours a dark brown colour, beige head of smooth foam. Coffee and dark chocolate esters in the nose, they transfer nicely into the flavours also, milky feel palate wise; decent Milk Stout all round.

Can from Booths Supermarket, Settle. Dark brown with a thinnish head. Has some roasted malt in its nose, but is understated as a stout in taste despite dry coffee flavours.

Cask at 37th Fleetwood Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Patchy fawn coloured head leaving dotted spots on the glass. Jet black body. Inviting aromas of coffee and chocolate notes. Similar taste of rather sweet chocolate and coffee. Coffee grounds to the ending. Medium bodied. Decent stout. (07.02.2019).
