The Porter is our flagship beer. The style established Victorian London as the centre of the brewing world. The Porter is also the beer that started us on our journey. Our blend of highly kilned and roasted malts is suited perfectly to our water, producing balanced flavours of rich coffee and dark chocolate. This award-winning Porter represents the true beer style of London. It is one that we are incredibly proud of.

Tasting glass draft @ Billie's Bier Kafétaria. Very dark brown to black, mocha head. Very nice some bitter coffee finish, faint herbal, real chocolate, good sweet & low bitter balance, not just sweet, great classical low roast taste, caramel, maybe a bit more body for me. Great low bitter classical Porter, very good & classy, liked it a lot more than most Anspach & Hobday beers.

Keg at the Temple Brewhouse, Essex Street, London. Pours very dark brown/almost black with a lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and dark fruits. Medium sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. Finish is richly roasted, with an increasing level of bitterness. Enjoyable!

Bottle. Deep brown with tan head that’s soon a coat. Aroma is roasty with molasses, coffee, plain chocolate, some licorice. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Tastes pretty much as it smells with moderate sweetness from the dark sugars soon being overtaken by form bitterness, letting the roasted flavours gradually grip. Maybe a little much licorice for me but very good and enticing: sets its stall out rather than comes at you.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate, biscuit and nuts. An edge of molasses or toffee. Taste - more dark chocolate and toffee. Light burnt bread. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - best from these guys so far.
