This American brown ale was first brewed on our pilot kit and we've been itching to upscale it and get it into our brew schedule ever since. We've used a less than modest malt bill to underpin all the citrusy American 'C' hops and keep the beer balanced and beyond drinkable. There's smooth malts, caramelised sugar and a healthy helping of grapefruit to finish. There's certainly nothing boring about this brown ale.

On tap at Brewery Tap, Chester A hint of cream teas in the nose. Pours a reddish shoe brown. Lots of sticky chocolatey stuff in the mouth, toffee, caramel, fudge. Also a nutty strand with walnuts predominating. But the finish is nothing except bitterness.

330 ml. can. Batch 10.01.18. Dark brown amber, red huge, big mocha bubbles. Nose is caramel, mocha, low leaves, low cheese hop, nice cheese hop, low pine, nice mocha caramel and blue cheese hop, little bit. Could be touch thicker but good for the ABV, nice blue cheese, creamy soy chocolate milk, caramel, leaves, nice mellow but clear hop, leaves, low cooked apple, bit lingering, twigs, pine resin faint cheese hop. Very nice hoppy Brown Ale.

American style brown ale ironically coming from England (Bath to be precise), can at Kantien in Ghent. Moussy, cream white, slowly dissipating, thinning, irregular head, hazy chestnut brown robe with burgundy hue. Aroma of hazelnuts, dried grapefruit peel, old brownies, cinnamon powder, dry tea, caramel, tree leaves, toasted brown bread. Dryish flavour, subdued dried fruit and unripe peach sweetishness in a very clean and straightforward way, sharp and minerally carbonation, bit stinging. Smooth caramelly and cashew nut-like maltiness, sweetish with a toasted bitterish tail, enhanced by a spicy, dried grapefruit peel-like hoppiness in the finish, providing adequate yet somewhat mellow bitterness; malt nuttiness lingers. Correct and straightforward brown ale, more than decent but if you explicitly state that you intend it as an American style brown ale, perhaps a more expressive hop punch and aroma would not have harmed.

Bubbly off white head stayed on a still, dark reddish brown body. Pine, outdoor, metallic & rye aroma. Medium to full bodied, soft & airy over the palate, well carbonated & a nice clean finish. Taste is much as the aroma with strong pine, red berries, honey & citrus hints followed by a long sweet yet tangy finish
