On tap a few summers ago at Biftek on St-Laurent. At that time it was a new release that was only on draft-they were testing the waters with this IPA which was a decent first try. Copperish color white head. Hoppy but after the West Coast hop bombs I got used to trying much milder-more similar to Brooklyn’s East Coast IPA.----update ----- bottle. Boreale IPA the aroma is much hoppier than before - citrus and light pine. A light copper color. The taste is a clean hoppy bitterness with a decent malt body. A good everyday IPA.

Malt forward IPA that’s actually fairly decent. A surprise for these guys. Pours translucent orange without much head or lacing. Strong barley smell with light hops - more along the English IPA tradition than otherwise. Average carbonation. On tap.

Encore une fois, je me suis déplacé rien que pour m’en acheter une caisse ;-) Ils sont arrivés sur le tard avec ce produit mais il est excellent. C’est ma bière de semaine (et souvent de fin de semaine)...

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur ambrée et claire. Nez de houblon moyennement citrique et résineux, légèrement floral et herbeux, fruité (agrumes), moyend e caramel doux avec des notesd de céréales sucrées. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture moyennement crémeuse et légèrement huileuse. Goût moyennement amer de houblon moyennement citrique (pamplemousse) et légèrement floral (une amertume présente toute l;a gorgée) avec un goût fruité (agrumes) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de caramel doux avec des notes de biscuits puis en finale l’amertume reprend force en affichant un caractère asséchant, moyennement herbeux (herbes fraîches, faibles traces de thé) et légèrement résineux. Post-goût long-moyen et sec, moyennement amer de houblon citrique, herbeux, légèrement floral et aux notes résineuses avec un goût fruité (zeste d’agrumes).

Bottle: Poured a clear light orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of floral hops is quite powerful and very enticing. Taste is mostly dominated by a solid floral hoppy base with light malt base with not much residual sugar. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid IPA with great use of dry hopping technique.

I was pretty stocked to see a new Boréale product in a small Hull, QC convenient store. Says "unfiltered" on the 6-pack case and front label, but is not really that hazy. Little sediments floating around, but does not create any cloudiness. Rich golden-amber colour with a frothy warm cap, that stays long and creates foamy lacing. The Cascade hop nose is present, but mild. Medium-bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Not too bitter for the taste, but some tasty hops. More malt present than the aromas. One of the stonger products for Boréale and a decent IPA that is good for first-time drinkers of this style, as this one is above average, but not too crazy-hoppy.

Bouteille 341ml. Couleur orangée cuivrée, mousse blanche dense. Arôme de houblon, de conifère, résineux et de zeste d’orange. Goût de houblon, résineux, d’agrumes léger avec une amertume agréable. Carbonation moyenne, corps assez dense.

Aroma: Alcohol with floral, herbal and citrus accents. Alcohol is sticking out a bit too much and is giving a smell of ether. Slight notes of grapefruit are also in there. Appearance: Small creamy head with a nice lacing is crowning a clear gold color. Taste: Grapefruit and citrus are sticking out at first taste with a good mix of floral accents. Good mix of flowers and citrus. Nice creamy texture and very smooth for an IPA. Finish with notes of cereal and a slight ether taste. Would have rated more if it wouldn’t have been of that aftertaste. Nevertheless it remains that it’s an excellent smooth, well balanced IPA . Not for strong bitterness seekers.

An amber IPA with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a smooth biscuit malt with smooth floral hops, lightly resinous. In mouth, a crisp biscuit with floral c-hops, medium bodied, nice and smooth.On tap at Festibiere de Gatineau, May 25 2012.
