Can bought from Hoptimism, drunk at home. It gushes a tiny bit, and pours translucent mid- to dark brown with a ring of tan head. Strong soy notes, balsamic vinegar, black grape and warming cinnamon in the aroma. Tastes quite sour with a medicinal edge. Long finish with notes of cooking chocolate, Marmite and cocoa bitters. Lightly carbonated. I don't dislike it but it doesn't hang together as well as I'd like.

440ml can. Cloudy, reddish brown colour with small to average, frothy, diminishing, beige to tan head. Dark malty and minimally fruity aroma, hints of malt lozenge, cola, rock sugar, some morello, a touch of prune. Taste is tart-ish, dark malty, slightly nutty, woody and fruity, hints of roasted nuts, morello, prune; mildly tart finish, soft to flat carbonation.

Can from Honest Brew. Pours rich dark brown with a decent sized lasting beige head. Aroma of cherry, plum, prune, yeast, chocolate, malt and coffee. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and moderate sourness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Finishes with nice level of tartness. Enjoyable.

440ml can. Pours dark, thin pale tan head. Aroma has some sweet woody, hints, soft marzipan, brown sugar. Taste is tangy, vinous, salty, with brown sugar and emerging red berries. Some dark brown ale malt. Tart and tangy take on an oud bruin.

Can from Hog's Back Brewery Shop (yes, HBB, embrace the future!). A low key vinous aroma, but not much to it. An almost purple brown. Thin off-white head. Sour, but as per the aroma it's low key - not necessarily a negative comment, let me add. Reminds me of one of those carbonated non-alcoholic berry. drinks that my parents have with a meal instead of wine. Only with stewed fruits and a hint of booze. Medium bodied. Light but leaves a sticky mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation. Astringent finish. Ermmmm... well..... I like it. An extremely polite Sour Brown. Not a great example of the style but refreshing enough.

440ml can. Lots of sour cherry, biscuit, quite alcoholic (perhaps a little sherry type quality). Really very good.
